vw gti vr6..... can anybody help?
 
Ok, sorry this is not a honda question, but i know that there are some VW guys on here. I have been on this site now for about 9 years now.... wow. Probably when Jeff started his turbo craze. Used to work with the guy. Anyways, can anybody help with the vr6 motor? Im looking at buying a gti vr6 with 85000 miles on it. Its an 01. I test drove it last night, and loved it, but there is one concern. In 2nd and 3rd gear there is clicking noise (very faint, sounds like a card in a bike tire kinda noise) Any idea on what this is? I know this is not a whole lot of info, but any advice would be great.

It will break in exactly 23,000 miles.

---- that ---- on a stick with sauce. don't buy it... that cam chain is going to let go. don't know what book time it is at the dealer, but it goes well over a grand.

so you think its a cam chain? i told the guy i wanted him to take it to the dealer to check it out.

it doesnt do it in 1st, 4th, or 5th?

not that i could hear, and mainly in the low rpm's. Its very very faint, hardly noticeable.

I love my VR6. If it breaks im gonna burn the bitch down and collect the insurance.

is it on decel while in gear? i just sent a gti vr6 to the trans shop cause the diff was falling apart. made the same noise but only on decel. if the timing chains are bad, you with hear it. and it will be ALL the time
