Pwned.

The chance of being struck by anything large enough to be called apocalyptic anywhere in the conceivable future is slim to nill. I think we'll probably enter another ice age first. Still, that was a pretty cool video.

hehe, the mayan calender ends at 2012, and at the end of the mayan calender there is supposed to be a large cosmical event. nasa also predicts that in 2012 the poles of earth will reverse, north will become south and south will become north.

You dumb camel jockey.

An object of any size would be pulled, not just objects "that big." Also, what if the asteroid is pulled by the sun INTO the trajectory required to strike Earth? Earth isn't doing any dramatic sucking of objects that far out, but then again, neither is the sun. When you consider that the video showed the asteroid enter our atmosphere and then strike earth in about 2 seconds, you realize that the asteroid is moving at some 100 miles a second. Pretty slow in cosmic terms, but still pretty damn fast. Still, you can imagine how little a star so far away would affect the trajectory of an asteroid that's already probably got us in its crosshairs.

Heard of 99942 Apophis? It was once shown it had a 2.7% chance of striking Earth, but that figure has been dropped to something like 1/40,000. Still, it's not impossible.

A quick search on Wikipedia shows that there are 13 asteroids within .01 AU (Astronomical Unit, for the morans in here) of Earth's orbit.

And how the ---- do you figure we are more likely to be sucked into the sun? Sure, our orbit is decreasing slightly year by year, but the sun will turn into a red giant before that happens, but we'll still be outside its boundaries and we'll be long dead anyway.

that fucker was pulled straight towards earth.. the chances of any comet doing that or even hitting earth is .0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00001 in a trillion

an object that big would not collide with the earth... heres another comparison.. we have a better chance of colliding with out moon :y

besides JD. no alien involvement in this one. although i don't think they'll be a meteor to hit the earth.

2012.. is just the end of age and the galactic alignment. not the end of the world.. i personally believe the esoteric principal the rise of consciousness in mankind.

although i do think the poles will shift..and 93% of the worlds population dies off. including myself and all you fuckers.

and the only living people on the earth will probably be the Illuminati that is hidden under Denver international airport. they will probably be the only surviving 5th type human race on the planet. and the 6th human race will rise from then on afterward and we the dead folk will reincarnate into the new race. since it is, our race. (The Lumans)

thats my best guess whats going to happen. but time has folded and changed everywhere since 1998. even the aliens don't know since the creation 12 density shift has stop all tangable knowledge of the future past 2012.

but don't listen to me.. you all probably think i wear foil on my head and ask for tom cruise to save me...

YES you are nuts!

if you have a belief system where in the end, human race is going to go extinct and you totally accept this idea. that mentality is insane. not the fact that you believe a incorrectly translated book.

but to accept failure when when it's completely preventable. is utterly crazy.

I'm sorry but i want MANKIND to reign and to be Glorious. i want us to travel the stars. I want us to be technologically even more advance. I want more people to be fair and just. i want more people to have this experience and i want to create those opportunities for them. I do not want human experience to end at this planet.

if you think im nuts for believing in that.. then so be it...

Re: video: astroid hitting Earth

I think you need to re-read what I wrote. I said MOST. Not ALL. You're the one who came up with 93%. I forget how many are said to die foretold in revelation. I'm not the one saying I know for certain the worlds gonna end in 5 years and all this flip flop nonsense. Talk to me in 6 years and I'll see what you believe then.

blade8r 11-26-2007 02:13 PM

Re: video: astroid hitting Earth

well. that 93% is only a guess.

i don't know wtf is going to happen on 2012. im only guessing..

im thinking 93% of the population will die off. because of the pole shift. not because some god in the sky made it happen but a natural cycle of events that the plant has always experiences well time of mankind. that's the difference.

the Van Allen radiation belt is temporarily disabled during the transition. its not an instant flip flop. but during those times the sun is peak solar maximum. the radiation belt is slightly inop. and we get the full rays of the sun briefly. durring those chaotic times.

the weather will change and cause floods and fire. of great magnitude. the polar caps will melt. (i think the poles will flip a full 45%) and boom another noah's time will happen again. a new planetary year, a different angle. all new season. a new balance in the planet.

but then again.. it really is... what it is.. just a guess...

Re: video: astroid hitting Earth

Things that big don't just fall into other orbiting bodies, especially the sun. The chance of that happening is one in a million. What's more likely is the thing falls into an orbit. If our orbits happen to collide in the same spot at the same time, we get smashed. Simple as that.

Exactly. There was no "pulling" or "falling". The Earth just happened to be in the asteroid's trajectory. Like shooting a bullet at a sand nigger's head in Iraq - his face didn't pull it in, it was just in the way.

And same thing with the moon. It's slowly spiraling in on us, but we'll be dust for a long time before it finally collides with usp.

So I reiterate: Stupid camel jockey.
