Holy ----, I was looking on ebay for the fast thingy, I guess they are limited to 600 and are selling for $250+ WTF. I liked the novelty of it and the commercials are funny, but who pays $250 for a plastic ball.

The engine tells her all by itself, that's what 8200 RPMs of what amounts to a dump tube will do for you.

Looks like a ------ honda. ---- that car, the older ones are much better. FWIW Its probably not very slow. Direct Gasoline Injection with DSG gearbox Turbo 2.0. Rated by the factory at 200 hp but initial dyno readings are showing that much to the wheels, so I guess VW is underrating them.

Well almost every car in production today is slow in comparision to a new Viper.It is a matter of perspective.For a sport compact type car its fairly quick.

The potential for that FSI 2.0t is 250-260hp and 325-335 ftlb of torque with the stock turbo.The big plus it that a port tune is only $500-$600.Add DSG to the mix(optional) and knock off a couple of seconds of the 1/4 mile et.

Lets see you do that wit a Neon or a Cavalier...er sorry "STR4,Cobalt" :-X

volkswagens are realy solidly built cars. way more so than a neon or a cobalt. they might not be american but they're pretty damn burley. you gotta give them that. whats with this stock long block 90000hp bullshit arguement anyway. the motor in the srt4 and the ecotec motor are proven powerformers, the direct injection, i wonder how much that'll cost to mod or tune

I agree the Ecotec is a great engine with alot of potential and I really hope GM ditches the lame supercharger as the Cobalt would be so much better with a turbo.The Ecotec has direct injection and a turbo in the new Soliste[sp?] that is coming out shortly.The VW appeals to a crowd that still wants refinment even in a compact car.Really the VW I dont see being on the same shopping list as someone looking at a Cobalt,SRT4 or Civic SI.

WTF crawled up your ass, you must have gotten smoked by a Beetle or something. Anyways, you'll find out how much direct gasoline injection costs to mod soon enough because within 7-10 years, every engine released will have it and fuel injection as we know it will be the way of the carburator. I can tell you really don't know wtf you're talking about and just hating on the car for the hell of it, because VW engines are regularly just boosted with 2 headgaskets and push 25 psi to them and go. The 2.0t is most likely almost the same engine as the 1.8t and those are known to get as much hp as you stated on the stock block also.
