Valentines? Fuck dat. I'll spend the weekend with the Shuttle.

turbob16hatch (Matt) brought over some new parts today. All the way from North Dakota. I'd say we're almost on final and ready to call in for landing clearance.

Tomorrow Snabfxu is coming over for a final day of wiring. I'll have all the glass put back in, and the painter will be here Monday with the hood, fenders, bumpers, and gas door. Last night he dropped off the tailgate, and I can proudly say the shuttle has a license plate on it now. :'( 2017, uh, brace yo self.

Drunken Sunday afternoon pics surely to follow.

I like the braided lines. I will PM you with more info on them, I did before and canceled the order, maybe this time you can help me select the parts .

nice ---- man we need more pics.

When I first read your post I thought about that SNL Digital Short "Lazy Sunday" O0

The shuttle's looking pretty nice now, more than basically just the shell it was last time I was up there.

also, isn't that o2 bung a little close for wideband sensor? I've always been told to put it 20" away from the turbine for longevity.. can't source any reliable citation for that though :l

I'm not sure what's not to like about the wastegate. With so many manifolds putting up like a trophy, or sticking out of somewhere, I like the tight fit of where it is. The downpipe has 2 O2 bungs. One you see, and one sitting on the back of it just before the crossmember.

Yeah after all that work, at least go OEM with the headlights. It's too clean-looking so far to ruin it with those.

Glad to hear you have your priorities straight.

The exhaust has to almost completely reverse direction to go out the wastegate. This is why a Full-Rice twin 44mm wastegate manifold for a K-series w/ GT40 creeps from 10 psi wastegate to ~15 psi, and why something correctly designed will hold the same turbo rock steady at 10 psi off of a single 44mm gate.

If you don't experience boost creep at lower boost, don't worry about it.

I have the 15psi spring in the WG, so it won't be any lower than that.

Yes, the firewall was swapped here. I understand what you're saying about the lights, but I still like these ones. They don't have 87 reflectors in them, the housings are black (a theme I tend to have), and it makes the front of the car look different than the standard headlights with orange blinkers.

No, my WG setting is nig. Once everything is smooth on the nig setting, we'll set it up for nog.

I could care less if it's coming off the front or the side. Having to turn 90 or more degrees severely hurts exhaust flow.

Cool, then why do non-ideal wastegate exits cause creep with commonplace turbos? Drag manifold, perfect example.

you gonna use the stealth shuttle for usps deliveries in bumfuck usa or what? dirty seconds/thirds from mailbox to mailbox lets everyone know whats up

because people try and run 10 lbs on a large turbo, and try and use a relitivly small "valve" to bypass a huge amount of exhaust.

if i remembet correctly the drag pulls exhaust from just one cyl. correct?

What huge amount of exhaust? It's just 10 pounds. Just because the turbo is capable of insane amounts of power doesn't mean it makes much more than a run of the mill T3/T04E at that pressure. There's a little less pressure across the larger turbo's turbine, so if the exhaust can't naturally flow out the wastegate it goes across the turbine instead creating boost creep. If it can flow out the wastegate exit easily, there is no exhaust creep.

No, it pulls from all four, but three of the cylinders are expected to make sudden sharp changes in flow direction when the wastegate opens. Shear/tumble happens, and the whole works goes to hell in a hand basket. The idea is to let the exhaust's momentum do all the work for you, and put the wastegate exit at a shallower divergence.

Ok...... this is stupid. this is from my experience, when running a larger turbo (gt40) at very little boost pressure it is needed to make the wastegate a priority, as it is hard to slow down the turbo to stop it from spiking/creeping. correct?

now with this setup he is running "high" boost pressures ALL the time so wastegate priority is not of importance. also when asked to make a certain style manifold that is "very" popular that will be used the way he is going to use it. why would i stop and suggest to him i make a custom one off manifold that has "boost" control as priority as to run very low boost? explain?

um NO, it clearly pulls from 1 cyl. please explain to me how you think exhaust from the other cyl. flows against cyl. 1 up it's runner and out the wastegate?
http://www.dragturbokits.com/index.html

to finish this off, JD post up your manifolds that you have designed. i would like to see your work on fixing "boost creep"...... :l

if you havn't designed and built manifolds please stfu

i'm all about having a discusion about manifold designs, but you don't even have your facts straight on the drag manifold. then you start talking about a gt40 on a k series like that has anything to do with a 60-1 on a b18 ::)
