Mapquest tells me to leave my house and drive down a street and turn down a 90 degree dirt hill that leads to about a 15 foot drop to get onto the highway so I wouldn't trust everything mapquest says. :1

you live in a dream world. if you knew half a ---- about engines and cars you would know adding blowers and turbos to stock engines will gain mileage 98% of the time.

03+ cobra guys GAIN MILEAGE adding kenne bell blowers over the stock unit...

all mustangers, all ls1 guys gain mileage bolting on blowers...

I'm the one living in a dream world saying my heavy V8 car gets better gas mileage than a light weight 4 banger. :S Weeeeeeeeeeee..........

I got a 97 E350 with a big motor and big tires and that bitch gets 415 miles for 30 gallons. 13.83 miles a gallon doesn't seem like Johnny is telling the truth. ;D

Add a couple turbos and 100whp to it and you'll be getting 38mpg at WOT all day long. :1

hahaha. so adding on a turbo/supercharger, requiring more fuel in order to run properly saves more gas. i bet if i twin charged my civic i would get like 50mpg :6

you guys are totally missing the point. if you would stop being children and use your head for a second.

i drove my stang all day today and i babied the ---- out of it, the boost gauge never went past 10 vacuum. i can drive from 35mph up in OD. from 1000rpms up

the plain fact is i went ~80 miles on 1/4 a tank of gas.

and my car is not heavy. it weighs ~3100lbs. which is pretty damn light.

3100lbs, low end torque, tall gears = good mileage for a v8. i consider 25+mpg good. no it doesnt get 40mpg like leeann's crx...

but it gets better mileage than an evo, sti, 350z, rx8, mazdaspeed6, audi a6, audi 8, audi s4, m3, m5, and more...

the plain hard fact is, for a smaller engine to make a lot of power and be fast, its going to require relatively high revs and short gearing. both will kill mileage. this is especially true in NA small displacement high output engines. go check out some ferraris, lambos, etc... they make 500hp out of a 3.5l v8. but they also get 12mpg highway. WHY? cause they need to spin up that motor to start making power, and they need short gearing to get moving.

dont jump to such ridiculous conlusions all the time, yes there are millions of 4 bangers that get better mileage, there are 4 bangers out there that get better mileage, and are faster too. but it still doesnt change the fact that i increased my gas mileage by boosting a stock v8 motor. and it happens to be upper 20s.

it only requires extras gas WHEN IN BOOST. do you drive around constantly IN BOOST?
