=========== Original message Below =====================

Hey Guys,

We've seen a few of our racer friends do this, and thought it was a great idea. So we turned them into an official product. It's our version of the water return port, with an integrated temperature sender mounting port. It mounts between the water neck and the head on any D series engine. It provides two ports, one is a 3/8NPT port for water return from a turbo, etc., and the other is a 1/2NPT port for mounting up a temperature sender for an aftermarket gauge.

This makes it very convenient to mount up your after market water temp gauge. Just use the adapters included with the gauge to mount up the sender in the 1/2NPT port. This places your aftermarket gauge sender just inches from the factory location on the end of the head.

We include plugs for any unused ports. Below is a pic. Your thoughts? We haven't set pricing yet, and want to get your thoughts on what you think this is worth.

We'll get some installed pics up soon.

I think it'd be awesome for Honda-Tech or more baller setups. I doubt many HMTers care too much about coolant lines or pressure gauges.

i like it!!! i wonder if you could run both feed and return for us watercooled center section guys from that..

D series are ready now, and B18C5 units are next. We'll also be doing B18A/B after that. Here is a pic of it installed on one of our cars. Yes, we know that the sender is not connected to anything.

Dave - I don't remember exactly who did this first, we've been looking at it for about a year now. We made a few of them by hand for a couple of our racer friends, and then decided to do a production run of them on CNC and see how well they sell.

There would be no flow, so yeah you could do it, but why?

You could make a fitting of the same size, but it would have to be designed different.

As it is now you can run the return/feed into the fitting and then just "T" into a line elsewhere. Eliminates one long coolant line anyway. The problem I would see with the return and feed/return being on the same place is the lines to the turbo are so much smaller than the upper rad hose.

Cray is right on with that. There would be no flow. You have to get your lines split so that there is a pressure differential between them to generate flow. Basically you need to put a line into the system on each side of the water pump.

We are working on a clean way to do the other line.

for a first-run, $25, and I would buy one. Its a good idea, and would make running the lines for WC turbos a little easier.

I got lucky. I had an extra sensor on my Y8 when I put it in a 5th gen, so I just stuck the aftermarket sensor in there.

you guys are all cheap bastards :P Hopefully craig will make it cheap but i bet if it wasn't for us HMT guys, that would be like 25-40 bucks, and god forbid if it were for a DSM or WRX. Trick parts like those get marked up like crazy for those guys.

We are quite the collection of cheap fucks. That is a great product, but unless it costs less than the extra 2ft of rubber hose I would pass on it. :1

You are right on with this statement. HMT is our home, and where it all started for us. We always come here first. For HMT we are looking at $29 bucks for an initial offering on a limited amount of these, while the rest of the world will get them at around $37. That's a pretty significant difference for being HMT Family.

If any of you guys want one, just hit us up with $29 plus $7 Shipping to any US address, and we'll send your's out via FedEX. We are still working on packaging for these, but I know you guys aren't that concerned about pretty packaging.

anyways nice product that would have came in handy so many times if i had it about 3 years ago, good idea and i wouldnt mind paying 30 bucks or some ----, beats the hassle of ------ riging your temp gauge in or having to go to the hardware store and buy all these fittings and ----.

Re: Yet another new product from Tuner Toys. Post up your thoughts...

I was going to say 25-30, so that price is good. It would be awesome if you could sell a kit with a feed and return. I understand most people here are for being as cheap as possible (including myself) but I also like to be as lazy as possible, and would gladly spend 50-60 for a kit that would make the engine bay less cluttered and easier to set up.

These will be a pain in the ass for a B16. The water neck is on the back of the block.

Yep, we'll probably need to take the ports off the back, instead of the front for those. That's why we are doing the GSR one next, it will have the ports on the front since the distributor is on the back half of the head.

Craig

Why dont you guys do a rad hose kit?

I am going to be making a home made one. pretty much water flows one way through the rad hose to the rad and then back to the engine. what I will make is 2 pieces of stainless pipe with a nipple welded through them, one end will be cut on an angle just like a slash cut, and the other end will have the water lines going to it from the turbo.

The slash cut would be positioned depending on coolant travel, so one side sucks and the other side pushes coolant.

This would be a very simple feed/return system and would work great.
