Uh-Oh - Welder Cooking Itself Again - Broken Mig-100 need help

Im having some troubles with this dam welder now and its in the worst moment as Im getting ready to make some things

Its a chicago electric mig 100 fluxcored welder, cheap and simple I thought

Ive used it for maybe6 pound of weld wire.

I was using it for about 20 min pretty consistently when the motor started to slow down and eventually died and stopped feeding wire. This pisses me off. It took about 10 seconds to die

So I see a small cloud of smoke, open the sucker up and its a popped fuse, no bigger I ran it to hard I think, ran to radioshack and grab another 2 amp 250volt fuse, blew it instantly, threw another one in and the motor ran but slowly again died, this time I see what hapened

A cloom of smoke come from under the wire feed motor, then this little white box at the bottom of the electrical panel glows orange/red inside and then the fuse blows, motor cuts out.

heres some pics as to what im talking about

I hope someone can help me with what is going on

pull the fuse out, jam a piece of metal rod or a bolt in there, and proceed to weld.

that what i did to mine.

You did get the two year extended warranty with it when you bought it right? I have come to the conclusion that anything that comes from HF that has a motor, electronics or more than two moving parts it pays to get the warranty. I have probably 11 things with the extra warranty and they have already more than paid for themselves.

As far as fixing it, return it or probably buy another one. Hell buy a new one with the extended warranty then return the busted one. :4

Alright man think about this you keep blowing fuses because you have a short to ground somewhere that is feeding a lot of current. more than likely you burned the motor out. It must have welded itself internaly. get a new motor O0 should have baught a miller, you get what u pay for unfortunately
