uh oh, got a new mistress

She demands lots of attention ;)
I've been looking at guitars for months now and finally pulled the trigger yesterday, not an easy decision though. I was considering a cheaper epiphone les paul/SG and putting in EMG 81/85 pickups but after playing on an epi for a while I just wanted something built better. Very happy though, it plays like a dream...a very expensive dream. Gibson les paul studio Attachment 31344 Attachment 31345 Old epiphone les paul special 2 this guitar went for $400 back in 1999, now it sells for $150, amazing beginer guitar though. Attachment 31346 Between yesterday and today, I haven't gotten anything done :l |
Re: uh oh, got a new mistress
sorry to hate, but gibsons are hyped up peices of ----, crafted in japan fenders, wolfgangs and charvels are the hotness. I have played oen gibson i like, and thats the jimmy page and its 10 grand, ---- that.

Re: uh oh, got a new mistress
And if you want a good amp, look for old peavy ultra 120's. I sold my DSL 100 when I got mine.
|
Re: uh oh, got a new mistress
I love gibsons. there is a lot of hype though, once we got wheelin and dealin I hardley paid anything for it, less than 1/2 the list price, so that says a lot right there. For an amp I'm using a line 6 spider 2, not bad, but the tones fit most of the styles I play.

Re: uh oh, got a new mistress
I think there are different tones to each guitar. Fenders sound a little more bright to me and the gibson's always seem a little more smokey if that makes any sense. I love the Les Paul Im jeleous.
That thing is sex with strings. and I mean the good kind |
Re: uh oh, got a new mistress
Very nice!
I play a Epiphone Les Paul that I bought almost 10 years ago now. Great guitar. How much did the Gibson set you back? |
Re: uh oh, got a new mistress
What did you pay if you don't mind me asking

Re: uh oh, got a new mistress
I first started on a electic but now I'm all acoustic. My buddy told me I could have some guitar at his house that someone left at his house and didn't want it and didn't know what kind it was besides and acoustic. I'm like hell, any free guitar is cool with me...cheesy or good. Turned out it was a $400 LaPatrie classical guitar. It had nylon strings and was never really keen on them but after about an hour of playing with it. It just felt right and to this day it's the only guitar I play with. Gotta love free ----. I bought a Ovation but gave it to my dad since he really liked it. I also have a old japanese made hollowbody that is really beat up that I got for like 40 bucks at a local pawn shop. It's probably worth less but I just liked how it looked and it's mad jDm so I couldn't pass it up! lol. I've had a little bit of everything from a lap guitar to a Deering banjo. I still want a violin to mess around with. I guess I'm more of a acoustic kind of guy. Your axe is pretty nice but my guitar skills aren't that good to spend that much on something really nice like that. I miss playing with a band but my friends don't really like the music I like and I'm not into playing hard ----.
