I've read on Yota Tech about guys that have gotten this recall done and they had to pay extra for the alignment, or the dealer didn't put the new tie rods, or they got feed a line and how they needed a new pitman arm..blah blah blah..and got taken by the dealership. But I think that it boils down to the dealership. Everyone is a little different in how they handle recalls and this sort of thing, the one that I went to wanted it done the first time I think. They treated me great for being a 22 year old broke ass college student.

The problem people have is not qualifying for one, OR there not *actually* being a recall on something. There is a biiig difference between a "TSIB", and a "Recall Campain".

Toyota dealers doing service, are OK. About average in costs etc.
Lexus... 3-6x average price markup on a part VS Toyota cost with an average of 50-150% labor charges.

Only thing you can say about Lexus, is that if there is a bad recall & you have one of their expencive models <cough a v8 + <cough> they'll ride their happy ass to where you live, give you a car & drive the car to the dealership. They'll also give you the next higher end / newest loaner car off the lot than what you have if they keep your car overnight.

Otherwise... Lexus service is pitifully expencive, and should be avoided at all costs.

As far as bad dealership issues I was speaking on the issue of people buying cars from their dealerships, then again that's probably a huge bitch anywhere.

As far as Subaru goes, they actually had employees tasked to seek out Suby owners that were racing in different associations, and then revoking their warrenty if they were caught doing so.

Was it subaru or mitsubishi who gave free memberships for SCCA for whoever bought a svo or sti. Then checked the memberships and voided the warranty of those who actually raced their cars. Just another one of those "heard" things I think I got from my wife. Waranty? whats that? I've never had a car that was less then 10 years old since I've had my licence(11 years).

there's a honda dealer out here in diamond bar that will work on any honda that has been modified cus they sell aftermarket parts.

I'm sure most dealerships won't mind working on modified cars, they just won't cover it under warranty when they break! :l

this dealer warranties everything they do so if anything happens they will repair it if not they wouldn't sell any aftermarket parts there its kinda like scion does with their cars.
