Turbos and V8's?

Hiya guys!

I am new to this site.

But I would like to know how knowledgeble you guys are when it comes to turbo set ups and V8's :p

I currently have a 4.6l V8 Mustang and I was looking into various power adders and I got past the Supercharger and the Nitrous and I was left with the impression that they are pretty good, but turbo is by far more efficient.

Thanks,
Kalin

turbo's are a great solution for custom projects, because you can take almost any turbo and fit it to almost any car with some work. The same can't be said for superchargers. Most turbo's are also built for higher boost levels than blowers. If you're not afraid to spend some $$$, I would stick with a good prefab supercharging system, since there is a TON of stuff out there for your Mustang -- just try the Vortech website, for one. But if you wanna be unique, you can definitely go home made style with a turbo. You may actually want to go twin-turbo, with each half of your engine pushing a separate snail. Just some stuff to think about... I'm no expert, I'll let them come in and take over....

Nah man V8's aren't that difficult to turbo. You just need to plan ahead. and a Twin turbo setup would be great though. two T3/T4 big trim with a huge turbine would be great though. And FMU could run them reliably at 7 psi maybe more...I've read about V6 turbo's with single or TT style running on FMU with 6:1 ratio running at 12 psi boost. sum slighty bigger injectors and a better fuelpump would do it some good.

I think his car is a 4.6L also. I'd say get a procharger ( intercooled S/C ). The 4.6L stangs don't have the advantages that the older fox-body guys do ( cheap/plentiful parts, the cars cost FAR LESS, and have more room under the hood, and that's just a few ). The 4.6L is a better motor IMO. To T-turbo his car the dude with the stang had to do a little cutting in the engine bay.

BTW two SVO turbos would be some good turbos for a 4.6L stang.

lay off the crack guys, turbocharging 4cyl's is the way too go, an Supercharging V8's is the path.

I don't agree, I have a 98 Z28 LS1 that is getting a PTE-70 Turbo kit on it. It was really hard to custom make, but it was worth the time. Should get it back in a couple of weeks. Probably do about 550 rwhp and 700 rwtq.

Someone makes a T-76 with huge FMIC kit that cost around $5300 and makes over 500hp on 6.5psi.
