Default Triumph Speed Triple 1050

My parents both just got their motorcycle license and share a yamaha 1100 custom cruiser. We went to the Yamaha dealer today and I was checking out all sorts of bikes. My mom is getting herself something new fairly soon and I need a bike to get back and forth to school(sister just had a baby, so I'll be coming home every sunday and don't feel like paying for gas for the 55 mile commute in my truck)

I looked at a triumph speed triple 1050 today and can get it(brand new) for a fairly good price from what I can tell.

Anyone have any experience on Triumphs? I know they are pretty good bikes but have never known anyone that has one. Bike guys chime in!

buddy of mine has an older one, i've ridden it, it's slower than my same year cbr900rr on the top end, but low end/normal riding characteristics are awesome. triumphs are like the non gay volkswagen of the motorcycle world. they have a fanatical customer base, they're comfortable as ---- around town, but they're heavy and parts/service are a little more expensive.

i think that bike looks rad as hell though. all the speed triples have been sexy as ----.

I've done a little research and they say its one of the best around town. The brakes are awesome and the low end grunt is awesome as well.

I think I need to just go take it for a spin

400cc twin aircooled. And you thought that was a monster. Wooh baby! :P That's a badass bike. I'm more of a vintage bike. It's gotta be aircooled, carb'd and have a drum brake on one or both wheels in my book. I'd take an old Triumph though. I love Spiker's Triumph he got from his dad. I'd kill for that bike.

THAT BIKE IS PHENOMENAL!

Seriously ------- christ all mighty does that ----------er pull! The older triples were lackluster by comparison, Johnny, go to triumph and test ride that bitch. Wheelie anytime, on command. Torque monster.

That was what I was saving up for till I realized that it'd be a terrible investment for my first real street bike.

I still want it.

If you can get it, do it, so far the only maintenance issues I've heard of is with the oil cooler leaking a bit. Nothing profuse, but you'd notice it on the driveway.

---- I love that Triumph.

waffles is exaggerating a little bit.

but the speed triple is a very good bike. they are decently fast, handle and brake well.

the xb12ss and the speed triple are competitors

I might be, but that bike was the first or second liter bike I ever tried, and so far remains as one of the most fun.

It's a ------- brilliant around town bike, and the torque really is phenomenal.
