tools that you need to have
 

i need help its for my christmas list i just own the usual socket wrenches and what nots to get the basic stuff done. im talking about power what power tools for the more complicating stuff.

i know im going to get some extensions and some of the odd ball sockets this year for christmas. maybe a breaker bar too. what im really hoping for is a just a cheap welder.

an impact gun...and dont let your dad lose parts off it making it useless

i used a impact gun as a hammer. it cracked the back of it. we havent seen if it works yet. luckily we found it last winter laying on the ground but it worked better then all my friends dads impact guns

I depends on what you're doing. Obviously, you need a basic mechanics tool kit, but I think the biggest thing I would recommend is an air compressor and a good twin hammer impact gun. I just did the brakes on my Acura TL and ended up breaking a 1/2" breaker bar trying to get the axle nut off. I got an earthquake 1/2" impact gun at harbor freight and had it off in about 4 seconds. Knowing if you're going to use air tools in advance is important, because you can start off with impact sockets and use them manually until you have air tools. That will save quite a bit of $$.

why were you taking the axle nut off to change brakes ???

Sounds like the TL has to have the hub pressed off to change rotors.
