Re: tires

Rubber with a little bit of tread.

Bare steel showing through is when you hit the tire's so-called "sweet spot." The steel gives ULTIMATE traction due to it's inflexibility and obvious superior strength to rubber.

Just run them til the steel is starting to show through, then FLOOR IT. What top speed have you got?

215 50 16 bfg gforce sports. got them for free for swapping a motor :y

Re: tires

NA cars can get away with shittier rubber as they are easier to launch and much more tractable under power. For anything running past 250 whp on the street in a sub-2200 lbs chassis I really have to recommend M&H 25" DOT slicks.

Re: tires

at the track bfg 205/50-15 dr's on teh street I think I have kumho escta asx all seasons in the same size

I run the 512's thay are ---- for traction, but like said before, they are cheap. I rip on them all the time and they have lasted awhile.

LOL gotta love them fire stones, no matter how many 2-3 gear burnouts, they still have rubber left on them 8)

Re: tires

im not riding on steelies, but on my boosted DC2, i run 205/50/15 Falken Ziex 512s and i have another set of matching rims with BFG Drag Radials (225/50/15)...the Falkens spin but the DRs hook on the street @ 315/216

Re: tires

I used to rock rt615's but they are to expensive for my bimmer... 255/265 rubber on 17's = teh cost
I need to find some cheap solid tires for the new whip :-X

Re: tires

205-50-15 Nitto Neo Gens, grip decent

d-man 10-19-2007 12:46 PM

Re: tires

The more expensive rubber that will grip decent won't last long on the highway so I like cheap tires that don't grip and I can wear them out just as fast but not spend a lot to buy a new set.

Re: tires

205/60/13 sumitomo something or others were my weapon of choice for stock Honda steelies.

For my nice wheels I use 205/50/15 Toyo Proxes 4, and I'm working on getting ahold of another set of 15's for the 225/50/15 BFGoodrich drag radials.

205/40/16 RT615 azeni's

mostly used them for burnouts.... everywhere.

I am ricer :1

ps. they were decent at the track before I had my slicks

Re: tires

I roll on Ecsta AGX's on the GVR4. I would love to swap the Advan A032R's I've got chillin in the garage but I got rid of the stock rims and winter is coming soon and so nothing to swap them onto. Though sticky icky tires on a dsm would render it to jackstands faster then what it normally takes a dsm to get onto jackstands without non sticky ickies. lol.

Post pictures of your ride. I guarantee your alignment is visibly off.

185-60-14 kumho victoracers. I think they're discontinued now. Tirerack has 205-55-14 for $80 a pop, 'till they run out.

Re: tires

195 or 205 Azenis hook great on the street, not quite as good as a BFG out of the hole, but after 1st they're pretty much the same and Azenis are way cheaper.

TorganFM 10-21-2007 04:26 PM

Re: tires

I have Kelly Chargers on my car right now. They hold traction at 10lbs on a Z6 than my old Ziex-512's did NA... which is sad. Both are 205 wide.

Re: tires

Don't have a honda, but I have Sumitomo HTRz's and they hook like mad, they don't have a trendy tread pattern and they look plain. But they are cheap.
