Tips for getting fit?

Hey guys.. my grandfather just recently got a Weider Platinum 800 (75-in-one workout machine). I'm trying to get fit by June.. I have a few extra pounds and need to shed them as well as gain muscle.

My goals are to be fit and trim, I would go for the HotRex look but it would take too much to get/keep that figure.

I'm going to use this machine and my treadmill, hoping to be able to run under a 6 minute mile by June as well.

Any tips, when I should work out, what I should eat, etc. etc? I'm not taking any pills/creotines/stuff like that.

true, swimming will give you both aerobic and anaerobic exercise, and it's non-impact.

just go for low-weight, high reps, high pace stuff, then the jogging and swimming.

Lol, its my Sprint POS old school phone

If you want to get cut (muscular, heavy toning, etc) you really cant do it without weight training added on. Eat a lot of protein!

Thanks guys (and girl :-)). I didn't really think of swimming, I'll have to go once or twice a week. I'm trying to figure out a good regiment though (monday - run how long, do chest and shoulder exercises, etc).. anybody have any good ideas?

And how about for food, what would be good for me to eat/drink, especially before/after my workout?

And thanks for the link FURACERMAN, I'll have to check it out here :D

I'm not into the low-weight/high rep crap. That just doesn't do it for me. I've seen better results with max weight sessions. I won't go to the gym to lift a 135 bench all day. Jogging and swimming are good though.....

We just had a few threads about this like last week. Go to www.bodybuilding.com and start reading. Make sure you have a well balanced diet and get enough sleep.
