Throwing myself upon your mercy

deff agreed and like i said I feel for the guy. Its one thing to be down on your luck but to have shitty things happen to the tools you need to make more dough (tools stolen, hand broken whatever) while your down its extra hard.
had to point out the contradiction though cause it made me lol.

I didn't ask for a handout, I drank some beer one night at the bottom of the "hole" i guess you could say. Out of almost pure hopeless frustration I posted up to see if anyone could help out in exchange for services. I would have been completely happy to do whatever I needed to do to make it worth someone's while to simply teach me how to do it myself. I can read about it all day long, but anyone who's worked on a car for more than a day knows that acctual practice and what the instructions say are often very different things. I'm a big fan of the whole "if you give a guy a fish/if you teach a guy to fish" saying.
For every ill-thought out and irresponsible unjustifyable reason I or anyone in my situation could come up with for being so determined to finnish this project, there are a few sentimental reasons that I will not discuss here. Honestly JD put it the best it could be put,
it's the stupid frivolous things in life that bring a smile to our faces. It's like being a poor kid and having $5 to blow at the arcade. No, people shouldn't be taught to expect things like that as their right, but everyone deserves a little something kicked their way when times are hard.
Well the moon was full, planets aligned, hell froze over and the falcons won the superbowl. Alot of people from HMT stepped up to the plate and out of nowhere, and went above and beyond to just try to help a nogger out in which they perhaps felt sympathetic or could relate to the situation themselves. From posting up words of encouragement, dontations for gas, offering to lend me equipment and 2 flat out invitations/offerings to come get my car tuned....to top that off its come from some of the very same people that indirectly taught me most of everything I've learned about turbocharging a car in the last couple years.
I am Humble
I am Greatful
I never pass up opertunities to learn something
It has proven my point that I try to teach my kids.
Being polite and honest will get you alot farther and faster in life than being a selfish, disrespectful, rude ------- ***** to everyone meet ever will.
To those that were concerned about it:
I am well aware of the risk involved and I tell you this, If JD blew this motor sky high, or if I wrecked on the way home, I will smile, I will laugh, I'll use left over HMT donations to go buy some orange chicken to cook on the manifold and post vids of the BBQ.
how is this possible you ask?
Simple.
Because I will have finnished what I started.

I was cleaning ---- up and getting it ready to go, final setup/prep things,
broke oil feed-line flange/restrictor off the snail, (jackie chan cast aluminum) ordered a new one(function 7 billet piece), should be here tommorow or monday.
I was having a small downpipe issues due to lack of resources and my failure at welding skills but that's fixed. (I suck at welding but can work miracles with an angle grinder and a big ------- hammer)
After that its put some air in the spare tire, go cash the check, go get some gas and head to Asheville whenever JD says it's cool.
By the way whats good extra ---- to bring with me? plugs? prayers? duck tape?

Re: Throwing myself upon your mercy
bottom line here is that you (civicocd) asked if you could WORK to get $ to do whatever. i respect that. a lot of people would go out and steal, whine, or get on public assistance. stand up behavior deserves stand up support. it wasn't a handout. it was a hand up. there's a difference.
