Think its worth it

Well, heres the delima. I am missing my honda as I see more roll around the island, and of all the cars Ive looked at for myself I want another honda. (this time I wanna go n/a though) then get something boosted (such as boosting the skyline, which is planned anyways). Anyways, Im finding ---- loads of B series auto civics/CRX's everywhere. Priced between $300-$2,000. EVERY DAM ONE A ------- AUTOMATIC. I have seen 2 manual HONDA's since ive been here, both NOT for sale. (to include integra's) So my question, buy the super cheap auto honda and do the conversion?

Now the other choice, ive come across a few 180sx's in decent shape with the SR20det 5spd, usally with some crazy suspension mods done, for around $1500-$2,000.

Which would you do? buy the honda, and do the conversion or hold out, and save a few more $$'s and get the 180?

Re: Think its worth it

If it's a EF or DA then get the auto and convert it to a 5spd otherwise ---- messing with the hydro conversion unless your got skillz like that. If I lived over thurr like you I'd still get a honda and ---- all that Nissan ----. Show them JDM mofo's how we turbo US folks turbo honda's!

I'd go with the 180sx...Honda this, Honda that, why not switch it up since you're over there, they'll be plenty Hondas waiting when you come back to the US in a few years.

But thats Japan man Im sure the japanese are like 180 this 180 that, especially the drifters. Try and find a middle school car like Lancer III or Lancer IV and put the rally package on it. ;)

My thoughts

Exactly, enjoy what you can't have over here. Eventually you might be able to buy a second car anyways, for $300. I would say, get something you can't get ever again when you move back.

Still being a honda fan, you could get some mad tyte JDM Honda integra type-r or try to find a real civic type-r. If you can hold off, save up, and get exactly what you want. You might not get the chance to go back, or even stay there too long, so enjoy it.

oh...and find me an sti shortblock. :-* J/K ;D

I found an evo 3 with the rally package. rally package meaning the autostic tranny to. ;) that car is $4,000. I think Im just gonna wait and hold out to find exactly what I want and can find. and yes, I own a nissan skyline. would anyone like me to scan the title and post it up?

this weekend is comming up. Now that I have my license, its burning me to not have a car I can drive everyday, and not have to rely on my wife to come pick me up/drop me off everyday. :-\

There's no point in owning a honda unless you're going to boost it.

$2.08 a gallon and thats 93 octane. the lowest you can get. and fook, why the hell would I boost a honda when i can get a nissan that comes boosted and 10x's better all around. hondas werent made to be boosted from the factory. thats simple.

So whats so big about 180's? You can get those here to and just swap in a damn det. How bout a Pulsar GTIR. Hmmm...awd, itb's, boosted(t28) in a hatch. What else could you ask for? Now start hitting those junkyards frank! Hook me up with some SSR type X wheels and a snail from a s15. Thats all I want for xmas!! Is that too much to ask?

I vote do an auto-2-manual... just ask someone you know to ship all the stuff you need and be done with it, there are plenty of manual civic in the US scrapyard.

the price difference between a NA skyline and a non-na skyline is about $4,000. I paid $1,500 for mine. ;)
its kinda like not buyin a B series car when you got the D series MUCH cheaper. especially when you have to have enough $$ to buy 2 cars at once. ;)

BTW, im out the door now to go look at a GTS-t ;)

Re: Think its worth it

----, this sucks. .I looked at 8 different hondas tonight, all automatics. I did learn something tonight though. most integras come with D15's, not the D15vtec, the peice of ---- D15. the only vtec integras ive come accross were the type Rs from the first post i made about car shopping. (ohhh yeah, and a 4dr type R comes stock with 4 lugs)

im gonna talk to a guy about a 180sx here soon. hes about to leave the island, so hopefully he will take little to nothing for it. I also found a 91Levin with the factory supercharged motor (unsure of the code) and is a 5spd. still not sure if he even wants to sell it, but im gonna ask. :P

Holy crap dude, swoop that ----.

It's called a 4agze, it's a 1.6 liter supercharged/intercooled motor. Those engines have really beefy stock internals, people have swapped the supercharger (because it's rather small) for a turbocharger, and have run about 20 psi on the stock internals with no problems. When I decide to upgrade my internals, I will be getting the bottom end and the tranny of that engine. Good find, see if you can get it.

Re: Think its worth it

If you could get that 91 Levin, that would be the ----.

Otherwise I say go with a Honda and to the auto to manual swap. You can get the pedal tree off eBay for cheap, I saw a few of them yesterday.
