Re:thanksgiving...what are your plans

my turkey is marinating.....
its injected with beer, some tony's, garlic, salt, worsersire sauce, and lime juice.
then on the outside its rubbed with kosher salt, and some more tonys. this ---- is going to be good.

if you look where its discolored around the leg and near the wing, that discoloration is the injection

D16forlife:
i have smoked about 10 turkeys already this summer and stuff....do a mixture of charcole, and hickory. soak the hickory in water for about an hour and make sure the charcole is white before you put it in the smoker.(start the charcole in a "chimney"
ohh yeah, and make sure you have a water pan to. that turkey will be absoutly mouthwatering. one more tip, cook it till the breast temp is 160 degrees then when you take it off the smoker, wrap it in foil and let it sit for about 20min. mmm....
read up. im on this board alot also...

Thanks frank!But Im no n00b @ smoking ;)
Back in Cali I would smoke meats year round(oak,hickory,apple wood,cherry wood,walnuts,mesquite)yum,yum :P.

Ive just never done a whole turky.Last year I dismemberd it.I just hope this thing cooks all the way through in time. Its going to take a while so I think Im gonna start it up early in the morning.

I usually start my coals with a propane torch.I hate lighter fluid.

But Ill take that last tip. Thanks! ;D

Has anyone here tried Turducken?
I just heard about it and it looks kinda creepy. It is a hen inside of a duck which is inside of a turkey and layered with stuffing.
