ok so yea at school (wyotech) all the kids there talk so much ---- on hmt i want to fight every one of them....there is a kid i live with that said that he can make a turbo kit better than hmt turbo style kits for half the price....i dont think thats possible.....and he also said his audi had a custom turbo kit becuase he upgraded his turbo drilled holes in his bov and made it externally waste gated......i dont think that classifies as "custom"......im sure you guys dont either.....and i told them that im gonna build my own turbo kit...and they said its gonna be junk becuase im gonna buy a manifold off of hotrex....so i told him its ------- metal how big of a difference can there be between a 700 dollar manifold with good welds with a ------- "slowboy racing" lable on it and a ------- manifold made outa the same metal with good welds with no lable.....anyway i dont wanna annoy you guys with babbling.... that ---- is coming outa kids that think vtec heads are terrible for boost.....they keep telling me i need to take my z6 head off b4 i turbo....but yea i just wanted to tell you guys becuase everyone else agrees with them and im sure u guys will be on my side.....

oh yea and also the kid with the d series that says his turbo kit is gonna be better than mine wants to buy an ssautocrap manifold and says they are like great and dont crack and you dont need to reiinforce them....

I've gotten into some arguments over HMT as well man. People telling me that kits are the only way to go.. that GReddy kits are the best things ever... and that piecing a turbo kit together yourself is stupid.

Let me remind you, these people are USUALLY driving J-body's. :l

haha yea seriously........i made the mistake of telling them about devcon and they said "but then you wouldnt have any coolant flow"....and i asssure you i didnt forget to tell them that you drill holes for coolant passages.....once again he said "i dont know why you would do that" as in i dont know why you would reinforce....and yea i got into the greddy argument...he was like "greddy turbos are the ----" and i told him that they suck and that i would never buy one" and of course they all tried to make me look stupid.....and they also called you guys stupid basicly....and i told them that 3/4 of the kids on hmt know more about turboing things than they ever will......and that putting a bigger turbo on an already turbo car is nothing impressive and they were like "it takes alot of work to replace turbo's" i think they just realized i was right and just started making ---- up....

wyotech isnt bad man....ive learned a ton of ---- and ive only been there a month......but for someone who already knows alot about cars it would be stupid for them to go of course........and we learned about rotary engines for like an hour or so and i decided that i definatly want to build a rotart motor and boost the ---- out of it.....and im gonna stick it in a rail buggy or something .........so i guess you can make them so there are more than 2 rotors just by some kit and of course more rotors.....i still need to do alot of reseach but it should be cool....

haha, exactly. The reason they went to the school is because they didn't know ---- and didn't know they could learn all of that with experience and common sense. I had a friend go to one of those stupid schools and everytime I saw the guy he wanted to "quiz" me on how piston rings should be lined up. And they all think that right after they graduate and pass the test on how an engine works they're going straight to Porsche. hahah. My friend that was so smart and wanted to have pissing matches about who knew more about cars is now a car salesman. (0WN3D) :y

sounds like they got some douchbags there. sadily to say ill be going there in july i think im going to start with the buisness management classes first. but ya mainly im stoked about making fun of all the retarded rednecks there. do you guys race at all down there. or just go to the track in Cheyene? are you just taking the basic automotive class? because i think when most people tell you story's about there friends going there thats all they took because they were to stupid to actually take the many other classes. i personally think the automotive class will be somewhat of a waste of time but ill learn stuff. they probibliy could teach you everything in half the time. im mainly taking the buisness management and chassis and high performance engines. interesting to see what i learn in that class, if its any good. there hot rod class there looked pretty fun. because they were building up old hot rods from the chassis to the engine re-doing everything. some of those cars looked sick. and at the same time the school seemed like a total rip-off when i was checking it out. but im not doing much just sitting at home working at a factory or the pizza joint.
not to make fun of you but it sounds like your learning everything about cars for the first time, and its pretty easy for these guys to prove you wrong even though they have no clue. the guy whos going to build a cheaper turbo kit with ssac manifold? wtf. thats not hard to tell him his a f-cking idiot. find the cheapest turbo setup someone built here and put him to the challenge. he will fail bad.

I've learned that Wyotech, Lincoln Tech, UTI are just a place to donate $20k or so and the only thing they teach you is that as soon as you get a job after school, buy yourself $5k in tools and put them in a $8k Snap-On Toolbox.

Yea im learning all of this stuff for the 1st time....so its all good for me.....all the kids down there sound like boomhower from king of the hill heh and yea most of them are faggots......hey salesmonkey are you going to the blairsville campus or the wyoming one?.....unless you have to go to blairsville for a certain reason.....change and go somewhere else it sucks so bad .......yea i wish i had some money the build a turbo kit....only things i have are downpipe that needs bent a different direction.dsm flange....(free) i have a evo bov (free) uhh i have some steel braided lines that i assume are oil lines but i havent really checked yet its like 21/2 to 3 feet long........i have an oil return....and a rhb5 that has a crack in the exaust housing.....30 bucks plus shipping if anyone wants it by the way....one of the kids i live with said hell sell me 330cc injectors and a very good condition 14b and whatever else i need for $250 i think i might do it eventually......but i dont know what to do about the compression and weak rods in the d16z6 i dont have the money for new ones and i dont have the means to blow it up......anything i can do like thicker head gasket or anything to lower the comp a little...i dont know what the compression ratio is as it sits now though......hopefully like 9:1 any of you guys know?

i read in a honda mag that they have pencil like rods....so i figured they didnt make it up...nice to know that they arent that weak....able to be at 9 pounds on a 14b with no problem then....that means i could just put a thicker head gasket on it and drop it down a tad bit more and boost it....sweet...

Ive learned a lot from becoming an apprentice at shops. Ive seen ghetto mechanics do things that arent taught in books. I respect them a lot. I personally get satisfaction out of completing projects that are automotive related. I try really hard to immitate factory engineering.
I guess school is a good place to start with basics, and SOMETIMES employers feel comfortable hiring someone with some sort of certification, or education.
I really wish I would have paid more attention to physics when I was in school. :'(

I have a friend who goes to Wyotech, he's studying Diesel... The only advantage i see of going to Wyotech is that they get a discount on parts from Turbonetics.
