supposed to run a Honda, how fast will it be?
The weather is getting really nice around here, I was supposed to run a B16 last fall but my car broke down. There seems to be quite a few Honda owners on this site, let me know what I'm getting into, what do you think a setup like this would typically run the 1/4 & trap speed. I know there are variables that can greatly affect how the car runs, but I am dumb when it comes to Hondas. There are only a handful of nice ones around here, all the rest are just riced out -----piles who drive around like lunatics as their primered bondo rattles off from the fart cans. I'm getting my car tuned in nice on pump gas but starting to wonder if I should be on race gas. I've already went and got it but haven't had any free time to go out and tune. This is what I know about the car, he didn't give me much info on it.
B16, upgraded internals.
fairly large turbo (don't know what it is) w/ all supporting mods, ie. intake exhaust, fuel, fuel management, etc.
suspension
My car should be somewhere in the mid 12's on pump, and high 11's, low 12's on race gas, but minus about .2 - .5 seconds due to 3rd gear not wanting to go in untill the rpms drop down a little.

I was just curious around what a car like this should be capable of. I recently converted to E85 so I should be running much stronger. My neighbor says he had his car torn down and was installing a larger turbo. Some Garrett of some sort, he claims to be larger than a GT42R, which I can't see how that would be capable at all. On our 3.0L's, the 42R takes forever to spool. I think he's getting himself into something that's not going to run well.
I did however run into another turbo'd hatch which was damn quick, slicks, gutted, roll cage, race gas, etc. etc..... faster than me on pump gas, but not by much. He said he let a friend use his boost controller and he was running 9psi, rather than his usual 12 or 13 and managed a mid-12.4. When I get my car tuned in on E85 we will give it another try.

I actually have a lot of respect for the cars, what I don't have respect for is the (and not always but 99% of the time) ricers which happen to be in hondas, that race & weave in & out of traffic like a road course, puting people's lives in danger because they at one point happened to leak clear stuff in their pants while watching F&F.

uhhh b16 in what? a civic hatch most likely.. if its built like u say with all supporting mods for the turbo, including slicks/lsd. ur prolly lookin at a 12 second if not quicker honda, unless the driver sucks that is. Dont be suprised if you get a run for your money lol

Yeah civic hatch. It's still getting the bigger turbo, don't know if it will be done before snow hits though. I blew a head gasket recently while tuning.... apparently 19psi was the limit for a graphite gasket... I didn't know they were junk untill I did a bit of research. I have an OEM tripple layered steel sitting here about to go in, so hopefully all goes well. I'm gonna call up the other hatch that I ran and see if he wants to try again. 11-12 second car would be fun, should be a drivers race.

wait so ur worried and ur car isnt even road ready? wow and u drive a sled with bad 3rd yeah hatch hands down with bad driver. ive been beaten by a vr4 with mods in my stock gsr hatch on stock suspention and and fat fives on balding tires by a fender. a fender if hes built ur dun son

Keep in mind, the one I did run only pulled ahead of me about 1/2 car because he got a good jump on me, I didn't know he was going to go, then I held the distance, this was on shitty pump gas. He ran a 12.4 earlier in the day. My car is pulling way harder now on E85 & I have yet to reach the limit w/ it. A sled? Yeah, it's deffinately not light, but my 450 HP to his 250 wrong wheel HP offsets that a bit. 3rd gear works, it just takes about 1/2 second to get into 3rd.
Comparing slow cars is irrelevant. Your stock GSR and a stock VR4 has no comparison value in this situation.
I'm not really getting any input/discussion, like always, so I will just leave this where it is until I have a chance to go out and give it a run. I was actually trying to learn about the platform from intelligent guys who actually have built and drive quick hatches, but seem to be a lack of lately.
