Re:Stupid V8 Question

Quadnie you are the person I was looking for Earlier. Stop killing poor defenceless animals and get ur ass on AIM some time. I was looking at the LT1 as well quadnie but I want to know which one can handle more boost with stock internals even though i will prob, try to bore it a bit and get better piston heads. I was looking as LS1's in the $grand area, but LT1's aren't that much better. Sorry if what I have been saying is incohearent I been missing a bit of sleep latly.

Thanks,
Tom

385 could be a crate motor but i doubt it lmao

um dont you think it'll be very cut and dry to swap an LS motor into that car.

if i was you id find a old shitty 350 block out of a truck or something and rebuild it to whatever specs you want.

or buy a crate engine. <--- best bet

Re:Stupid V8 Question

The LS1 is simply the best.Period. Of course its always going to cost more to get "the best" and the its true in this case.

The Ls1 will fit in that car very easily, BUT the wiring and fuel manigment are going to cost a lot too.

On top of all that... If you need to ask questions about which 350 will fit in a camaro, then you have no businuss looking at a quad turbo V8...

The Iron block LS1 truck motor is prob. the strongest motor to beat on.

The LT1 isn't bad at all, but your going to have to spend almost the same amount to get the LS1 to work, so why not use the LS1.

The LS1 is can power its heavy ass camaro to a 12.20 bone sotck with a 100shot, so a modded LS1 with a 125 could push 11's pretty easy.

One more note. The quad turbo set-up would cost more than your car, engine, engine manigment, and tag/tax/title !!! A simple single turbo set-up on an LS-1 cost over $5K !!!! ( makes over 500whp on 7 psi too !!!! ). If you've got that kinda money to "sling around", just buy a benz E55 ( runs 12.4 with 4-doors, warrenty, and its a benz !!! ).

Quad turbo = stupid.
Twin turbo road race v8 = bad ass
Single/twin turbo V8 drag racing = bad ass
period.

For the money you may as well swap in a 2JZ ( no ---- !! )

5 grand for a quad setup?? hahaah that is if you're buying a kit.
This is HMT man...let the man do his thing...he can get 4 cheap little turbo's and slap it on...the fule management would be my only concern.

I don't feel like looking up the formula right now but something is off.

Yes the LS1 will fit, many people have done it. A decent used LS1 will run you around a grand but I think the compression is a bit high for you to throw quad turbo power to it.

What exactly are you looking for Kyle? If it's a "fuel injected" 350 then go pick the electronic carb off of any pre vortec style chevy 350 and run with that. Better yet go standalone that will run you around a grand.

I think I'll let random-strike finish this thread off.

took the words out of my mouth...

also, someone asked about engines, go to like
www.hemmings.com and search for the motor. you will be able to find one from one of those old hot rod guys. or find a swap meet to go to.(search events also on hemmings) take cash with you and a pick-up truck.

look around... they are everwhere.

So you think a guy that doesn't know if you can swap a LS-1 into an older camaro has the skills/tools to fabricate his own quad turbo stuff ? NO.

damn once again 89dxhunchback spits out the facts so I don't have to. You need to start whoring up in a Forced Induction more so I don't have to.

yes a quad turbo setup wouldn't be that hard. The LS1 is overated, hard for compatability in many cars (well not a camero). The LT1 I've always had the best luck with, but I think the cheap easy route would be to just find a nice high nickel content sbc (prob from the 70s), a 350 or 327.. slap some nice n cheap aluminum trick flow heads on it and start your setup. Engine management will have to be standalone, those units start at a grand (I'll provide links when I find them on my other computer). Quad turbo isn't that hard, with engine management out of the way the tough part will be feeding the turbos with oil and other mount fabrication work.

Would be a lot easier to just twin turbo something, considering 4 turbos cost twice as much as 2 turbos. Twin turbo you could easily run with a carb setup. Check this website out:

One of these days when Bruce gets back to busting ass with his car I'm gonna try and get him to this website, he is a bright dude with lots of ideas.
