Default stumbled onto the deal of the century.... and pics of my car! 56K no...

so, I was window shopping ebay last week like I always do, hunting the elusive gt28R... Low and behold there was a BRAND NEW one on there for 550... sent him 575 bucks, and a few days later it shows up... Bolted to it is this funky *** manifold and DP.

so, i start looking around, and cant for the life of me figure out what its off of... its not a stock manifold. ----, its an aftermarket manifold... well, that could be for anything. so Im sitting there in front of google images, and i finally find a bolt pattern that matches... Mazda 1.8L BP. hmm.. Well, its either off a ford escort GT.... yeah, right, or, a miata. Bingo. Its a Corky bell (Yes, THE Corky Bell) engineering manifold and downpipe.

Now get this: The manifold retails for 440 bucks, and the downpipe 250, for a grand total of 690. Now, if you take garrett's retail fo 1200 on the hairdryer, I pulled down 1890 bucks worth of goodness for 575 shipped.

I cant bitch about not having any luck anymore... I think I did pretty good!

not sure what it makes for power, if i had to guess I would guess about 150 at the weels. it weighs in at 2300 with me in it. Its a 14b with a 12:1 FMU and 19# injectors. Im swapping to some ford racing 42#ers soon, and the SCT ECU reflash program. then I should be able to turn it up to 15 or so on the GT28R. Im gonna shoot for 350 at the wheels, and 400 for torque. Ive got water injection hooked up, and have turned my own delrin chassis bushings. I also did the prep for the paint, and made the chassis bracing. Im still trying to get the bugs worked out of my rear disc swap made from the front brakes of my parts car. the bias is all fucked up, but the bitch still stops faster then stock. Once I can get it to stop dragging its *** it should really brake hard.

I'm not a big fan of Escorts, well atleast that model...wait I guess that goes for all the models. lol. It's looks pretty well put together besides the big *** decal on the side. The intake manifold...umm I think you should of used some stock bike ITB setup instead of what it looks like to be some stock automotive throttle bodies. Hey this is HMT so whatever works to get the job done. You weld yourself I assume with your custom strut bars and the intake manifold?

yes, I weld myself, at home I have a shtty 110 flux core, hence the ugly steel welds, but at work I have a tig, and I work on the manifold during my lunch breaks some days.

the reason I used auto throttle bodies is they are the stockers off the escort, so when Im done my TPS will plug right into one of them, I got them for $10 each, and they are 40mm, the same size as the intake runners. so, a grand total of 40 bucks has been spent on that intake!

Can't argue with that. Just pull the stickers off and get some different wheels and I'd roll in that thing in a heart beat.
