jdmvaaj, that is just a ground terminal to help protect against lightning strikes. The ground sheath is connected to ground.
Pffft.
Can't beat actual broadcasting power, and a ground plane. Period. ---- a Cantenna.
Ask a real wardriver about wardriving, kthx!

im very in the dark when it comes to computers. Im stealing the neighbors wireless from 3 houses up the street. Everybody elses is security enabled Does jago know how to get around that? Im downloading at the speed of dial up sometimes a little higher 77K or so
anyhow, what is this diy thing? Is it like a big antenna to pick up wireless signals from far away? If so, why would YOU need a router?

jdmvaaj, your inline filter (capacitor, that's all it is, acting as a bandpass filter) is probably up on the pole. Do you like heights?
Aircracker, honey. Packet structure is carved in stone. All you need do is monitor a certain number of them (this is ASSuming the encrypted wifi connection is in use) and it's easy to deduce the key. Search the netstumbler forums, kthx.
BTW, 77K is NOT dialup... try 6K.
