As the Street Racing Scene gets fierce.... Its time to Step up..

Our local street race scene has been getting some quick cars lately.. Lots of all motor guys running large shots, which has made it difficult for me to beat on the street since I have such a huge traction problem. So, one night I got just reallly really pissed, and wanted to figure out a way to get some traction.

First..

I had to figure out how I could get some lower boost going in my lower gears. 12psi is simply unreasonable with street tires in my car, I could smoke the living ---- out of them 1-2 and half way through 3rd. So I devised a little setup, I used a Sol Duty Valve on a 03 Kia spectra, its basically a 1 way electronic check valve. I hooked this up branching off my boost controller line going directly to the wastegate. So when the valve is open, the wastegate gets a pure source from the manifold.

So basically, I put a toggle/switch off the shift knob, when the button is pressed in I get a 6psi (wastegate minium) and when I let off I get my full 12psi. So 1st gear, 2nd gear hold the switch, and as soon as I shift into 3rd let off the switch and I hit 12psi :) This is by far the best modification I have done, it works so so well!!!

2nd..

At 6psi in 1st and 2nd seemed ok, no traction problems, but not nearly as fast as I wanted.. So I went ahead and put in a full ignition setup, MSD 6BTM, Blaster Coil and MSD Cap to help out.

3rd

The car still felt ----- at 6psi, so I went ahead and orderd a Lightweight Race crank pulley from RVM performance.

This thing is so ------- light, its crazy. I swear it doesnt even weigh 1/2lb. I had to use a custom sized belt though. This really helped up spool time.

4th..

The CUMHO Supra 712's just dont ------- cut it street racing, so I slapped on a set of Black HX 14in wheels w/ a set of (very used) Nitto Drag Radials. Its still a bitch launching with these.. but better than the radials.

Last.... But not a performance mod. heh

My Sparco Race Seat... I figured its been sitting in my white car brand new for almost a year, I could atleast try the fucker out, haha.

Very nice:) I bet its fun as ---- to let it hit 12 PSI on the fly;)

thats what i need to do, i have a 90 crx d16a6 t3/t04e 12psi and cant get traction in first or second im on crappy tires for starters. also a lsd would be nice.

and with a pinned b18c1 swap coming soon i really need to do something about it.

Thats Badass... is this going to make it's way into the tech projects?

he just told u how to do it, put an electronic check valve inline so the wastegate dosent see boost and opens at the minimum spring pressure. then when you want full boost close the valve and let the wastegate see boost.

at first I thought jeff was going to tell us all to keep it safe and take it to the track, like a sell out. Then I get here and I realize he did the write up I wanted so much. You know jeff, you aren't such a bad guy after all, I'll stop telling everyone in new mexico that you are a wanker.

Surgeon's General Warning : Using surgical gloves may lead to smarter thinking and better boosting ;D

"The push button pimp" Who the ---- thinks this ---- up? Don't tell me you still have a job AND come up with this ----. That's the best invention I've ever seen on HMT. I still wouldn't suck you off, though. ;D

i'll have to read that again, and take it all in, but that has to be about the smartest ------ thing EVER. Jeff, your like the ------ einstein of turbo performance. seriously, that is super trick. definately a gold star on your report card this 1/4.
