Get a civic hatch. AWD only looks cool off the line.

I'd say DSM. I think Honduhs are just gay.

J/K :P
But still go with the DSM

Good thing I scrolled down before I flamed your ass. ;)

I think my choice is obvious. Civic hatchbacks own all, period. 8)

whatever you do just at least keep it asian. Try out some dsms and if AWD is for you then go that route... not all dsms are awd tho.

tuning art 04-06-2004 11:13 PM

Re:Staty with honda or go DSM ???

Re:Staty with honda or go DSM ???

hondas are much more reliable. dsms require alot of upkeep, or at least every that i know who has them. however, u can make a stock awd very fast for very cheap. its all up 2 u, its your car

i know of two people presonally that drive DSM's to work everyday...everyday meaning that they havent had problems YET...im sure both with scatter there trannies, one with shear HP, the other one stupidity...

DONT buy a Prelude/Accord...unless of couse your a ricer then go ahead...

Re:Staty with honda or go DSM ???

If its a low mileage stock vehicle then it is pretty damn reliable, its a factory car. And it japanese, they have plenty of reliability, Get the Dsm and launch at 6k all day at every light otherwise dont sell out

BigJ 04-07-2004 08:37 AM

Re:Staty with honda or go DSM ???

Two Words, CRANK WALK, that will cost you a bit.....

and yes the trannys suck ass

Re:Staty with honda or go DSM ???

I am planning on buying an older dsm when I get my crx "finished." What i've heard is that it's easy to make a dsm fast, but expensive to keep it that way. ie fixing parts all the time and trannies do break if you launch like a madman. I would say get yourself an old civic hatch for like $1000 and then buy a dsm, that way you have an old reliable honda to fall back on, plus you could turbo it and still be pretty reliable. imo

Re:Staty with honda or go DSM ???

Personally owning both(ive had the triplets, laser, talon, and 2 eclipses)i say dsm for speed and honda for reliability.Even tho my turbo crx is the fastest car ive had my eclipse auto surprised me.15.3@93 with 10lbs,k&n,fee mods, and a downpipe.

Re:Staty with honda or go DSM ???

you know my friend has a 99 eclispe and he now want to get rid of the bitch. every few months there something wrong with the car. He has lesser miles than i do and his car acts like its has a hundred miles more than mine. And dsm arent as fast as people make them out to be when you drive them of the lot. You have to still do work in order to make them pretty fast like you would a honda. Not as much work but still work.

DSM. FWD is a bad platform for performance.

Agreed I love my civic but you have to love those old school 510 or even a 240sx.
My next car will be RWD, they are much more fun on the autocross track.

dont think an awd is necessarily good in the snow. once it breaks loose, you just slide totally outta control. granted it might be a little better, but not worth justifying getting an awd car to drive in the snow, unless you go crazy with snow tires

Re:Staty with honda or go DSM ???

i say if you want a fast car for little cash.. and dont mind dealing with some problems every once in a while... go dsm.... mid 13's for a few hundred bucks is no joke.. especially with the 1.7 60 foot of the awd.... stay away from the FWD cars though unless you like buying tires really often.. cause all the do is lose traction

oh and get a 1G :) 6 bolt is mo' betta'

Re:Staty with honda or go DSM ???

I just scrolled down and posted so I might be double posting. Anyways I looked into buying a dsm so I did alot of home work on them. Turns out they do have tranny problems, and the 2nd Gens are very well known for Crank Walk. There was a bunch of other stupid problems with them also but I can't remember what they all were. And from what most people on DSM.org and dsmtuners.com say a stock 2gen will only run mid to high 15's some low 16's depending on the driver. But for about $5-6000 you could be running in the 12's ::) So I say go honda and boost it up, you'll spend less and in the long run probably have a faster car.
