Re:starting turbo install. & rings/bearings :)

should be fun, i drove my friends little old civic. like an 88 or something. with a b16a in it. it was slowwwwwwwwww.

MR_DR_PEP 08-09-2003 10:48 PM

Re:starting turbo install. & rings/bearings :)

I know this guy with an 89 hf rex with b16 swap and his best 1/4 mile is a 15.2... talk about slow... b16 hf rex should be low 14's common.....

The b16 just wants to breath.. maybe that's what it is.

btw, it looks good man.. the intercooler is sweet.

Re:starting turbo install. & rings/bearings :)

horray it runs. seems to run perfect.

my oil lines leaked but i got that squared away right for now it seems.

i did something extremely stupid. i forgot to put a oil filter on. so i started the car... about 10 seconds later. it puked all of the oil all over my driveway. stupid me

170 170 170 170 compression
the rings seem to have seated really good. just looks like regular exhaust comin out of the turbo no oil. plugs look good too.

right now the car sounds like ass coming out of the turbo. kinda like beaus race car... ass j/k bo
no o/2 sensor now so i get a cell.

Re:starting turbo install. & rings/bearings :)

that camera seams to do better in the light. i like the IC and the manifold! nice work! how fast is she? did ytou rehone the block?

J-SMITH69 08-14-2003 10:02 PM

Re:starting turbo install. & rings/bearings :)

i honed the cyclinders real good. its really slow right now. no 02 sensor and the exhaust is just coming out of the turbo. i'm kinda worried casue i ran it for a couple mins with all the oil drained out of it. cause i forgot to put a oil filter on and it all went out the hole onto the gorund and i didn't notice it for a couple mins. but i think its fine. it was 50 weight if thats make a diff :P

ZexRex 08-14-2003 10:11 PM

Re:starting turbo install. & rings/bearings :)

i think it would be ok with high weight oil and not revving really high.. that sucks man, i kicked a 5 qt oil pan over the other day, damn what a nice mess to clean up.

J-SMITH69 08-14-2003 10:13 PM

Re:starting turbo install. & rings/bearings :)

i really hope so. i hope it doesnt' spin a bearing in like 2 months cause of this. but... i never rev'd it past 3k... too loud.

i guess i could drain the oil and look and see if there is metal shavings in it

Purty manifold :)

Coming along nice there...now you'll have a turbo car to drive to the next BBQ.

Re:starting turbo install. & rings/bearings :)

dude, sencond gens sound and feel sooooo good with boost. but.... i notice you have a 91 (old style bumper with an acura emblem) which means you probably hve the A1 tranny. they like to explode. my friend has one in his 91 civic dx with hsi LS and it blew up, and mine just blew up last week. make SURE that thing isnt making any noise when you start driving it hard, cause if it is (mine was) it wont last long. i lasted 5 days on low boost with that noisy tranny, then it just ---- the bed. but good luck man, let us all know how it turns out.

Re:starting turbo install. & rings/bearings :)

BoostedBSeries 08-15-2003 11:41 PM

Re:starting turbo install. & rings/bearings :)

good, you got lucky, alot of cable b series tranny are tired by now. damn, i hope your car come out good, there needs to be more boosted g2's around.
