I think he is... atleast on motorcycles. Get an older 600 or a 500. Do what you feel is best/safe for you. You can always grow and learn and get on bigger bikes. Not true if you blip the throttle on a 1000cc too hard and have no idea what you are doing.


And an old 600/500/250 will probably sell for the same price you bought it for. Probably make a profit if you wash it and change the oil :P

my buddy bought a 250 ninja brand new a couple of weeks ago. It lasted 1 month before he traded it in for an R6 you want something with at least 500cc's

If you buy a 250 you can sell it for exactly what you paid. You are only out the tax and registration. I know its honda-tech logic but it is a decent bike to learn on. You can rail on it and be pretty safe. You dont need to worry about not being able to handle the power. Just dont expect to keep it more than a summer so dont go buying a brand new one or anything.

I just got rid of my bike about a year ago, older 600's are nice for a first rocket. I had a Yamaha FZR600 with a 2001 R6 FI 600 motor. It ran 11.5 easy, cruised nice and got the front tire up nice without clutching it. Love them highchair wheelies too!

let me say this one more time, if you are learning to ride, get a bike with some type of powerband, so you know what to expect on bigger ones.

get something with a vtwin, doesn't even have to be crusierish i4 bikes are gay to ride around town.

02 GSX-R is a great starter bike and you get get a used one fairly cheap. If not that grab up ninja around the same year they are very comfortable bike's, more so than the gsx-r. ---- gitting a 80's 300cc ninja there worthless and you'll find yourself board with it 1 week after you get it. Plus there slow as ---- i can burn them off the line in my N/A auto hatch. So don't waste your money.

I guess this is pretty sound logic if you live somewhere with no turns at all. I would hate to see a beginner try to handle the power and weight of a newer 600 sized bike with a nice fatty tire around town. With an older 600 or 500 or hell even a 250 you can easily flick them around town and learn the fundamentals of riding... looking into the turn, countersteering, yada yada without worrying about clutch and gas modulation.

x2. Buy a used smaller bike and EASILY resell for the same price and then possibly more.

BTW I've seen more experienced riders on smaller bikes at the track (Not the drag strip) lay waste to newer 600's. Seeing a lil 500 rip around a corner leaving a newer 600 in the dust is a sight to see..... granted the newer 600 sorta caught up in the straight... followed by early/scared breaking and the 500 pulling away even more. Food for thought... and think about it this way... get a cheaper bike now, and good gear. Then next season if you feel necessary get a bigger bike.

deffinatly get a 600, you wont be satisfied with anything less when you get the hang of riding and trust me your get it pretty quick...i had a 1992 cbr 600f2 and it treated me good, you can find those usually anywhere from $1500-$3000 and the f3s for a lil more....but if you wanna get a good bike that will be your last get a gixxer...i'm looking to get a gixxer 750 in the near future. but the 600 will have plenty of balls
