SS Autochrome what was the reason they sucked?
 

I am an old fart, and I cannot recall why it was that their manifolds were so piss poor. Could someone refresh me? Is it because the colors warp quickly? Or do they crack easily?

Supposedly cause they crack easily, but was told if they are supported properly, they can last.

yeah that's what i heard too. i was thinking about getting one and welding some braces onto it and see how it holds up because they look nice and are a hell of alot cheaper then others that look similar.

What do you mean by supported properly? Like having a bar extended to the downpipe that kinda keeps it from jiggling around?

I am interested in one of their equal flow headers, since I have had NO lucky finding someone else to build one for me and these look like the next best thing.

Some of them aldo had warped flanges that did not seal good, and then you had exhuast leaks that can't be fixed. The latest ones they were selling had the braces already welded on, from the turbo flange to the head flange, just little square bars going from one to the other.

Yea as i know the guy doesnt really stand by his product so it cant be to great, but they do look professionaly made and if u can add a few welds urself u should be fine

Ive been told the welds suck, they crack easily and everything else you probably heard but I know someone whose had a braced one for 6 months and had no problems with it. The guy who makes them now puts braces on them so they dont crack as easy. Im not sure Id put one on my car but do as you please

Hmm I havent seen one of these threads in a while and things change travis just like I once thought you were an o.k. guy until you announced you were gay :-\
