souping up the scooter

i picked up a 49cc MZ scooter and want it to go faster. is there any tricks to souping up the scooter like govenor and ---- like that? right now it tops out at around 45 i need it to haul ass so i can take it on us1 and ---- without getting ran over. i didnt find much info online i guess scooter people are generally not into making there rides badass :6

Re: souping up the scooter

Never heard of MZ, is that some cheap chinese brand?

Easiest quick power adder is an expansion pipe, free-flowing air filter, and jet the carb accordingly.

If they make them, get a big-bore kit. Usually ups the displacement to 65-70cc and is well worth it.

High Performance carb. Velocity stack, decent filter, pipe. That will help a bit. The pipes look crazy!

I'm not sure if by scooter you're meaning Moped or those Gopeds. I used to havea goped the bitch would move after a little work.

You can always spray it too.

Re: souping up the scooter

btw that scooter video against the firebird is fake...

you can see that the video is sped up at the end

and the firebird is part throttle

HMTguy 07-23-2007 03:54 PM

Re: souping up the scooter

So fake, a scooter would never get that fast.

A local scooter shop built one all out, and it only goes 70 mph

There's probably a physical governor in the exhaust port, it's just extra metal blocking up the hole. We took a dremel to that bitch a ported it out, picked up some serious top end.

how much did that effect your bottom end? sounds like a good idea maybe,,

as for the honda scooter there was one for sale the guy wouldnt budge on price which was more than i wanted to spend on somthing like this i picked mine up for 350 super clean with only 1500 miles on it

Re: souping up the scooter

It wasn't very noticable in the lower rpm, it actually helped with the oil circulation because before we kept burning rings revving the ---- out of it. You don't get a two stroke to not rev it.

HMTguy 07-24-2007 01:00 AM

Re: souping up the scooter

Technically yours is a scooter, but read the performance tuning forum on www.mopedarmy.com and read the bible faq.

not if it's closed circuit automatic transmission with a centrifugal clutch. Wasn't much to the trans on the one we had.
