Sold my Crx and 3 hrs later the front wheel falls off...BEWARE 56k
 

Hey, guys I don't post too much on here but i've been a member on here for awhile and just pretty much lurked around and sold some stuff. Well heres the story, I sold my crx and 3 hrs later the kid calls me and says the front wheel falls off and the spindle snapped and asked if he can get $1000 b/c he almost killed himself. I already told them the front rotors are kind of warped and to take it easy on the brakes. When you go high speeds and slam on the brake the steering wheel shakes violently. I am guessing he was beating on the car and slammin on the brakes but I am still clueless on how the front wheel comes off. I know I tighten everything and I even was driving the car 3 weeks prior to selling it. The actual buyer is a 15 year old and his 19 or 20 year old bro was the one driving it. I do feel bad but can he file some ---- against me ? What would you guys do about this situation? Well here are some pics of the car that i sold for $2500. Any inputs would be nice, thanks.

Well he's going to be calling me tommorow to see how much it will cost to repair it...I don't want to sound like an ass but I'm just goin to tell him straight up it's a damn used car...what's funny is that they we're going to go bring it street racing and they even told me but I guess they didn't make it to the street races ::)

Looks like a good deal at 2500 but yeah its the buyers responsibility to go over everything before taking it out and getting on it (no matter what car it is)

you shouilda wrote a contract that stated all sales final no warranty expressed or implied, but you didn't hink of that.

haha thanks for the advice. yea he did get a deal for $2500 and i even threw in a zeitronix wideband too..well we'll see what he will say today when he calls me..

swapped crx with turbo for that price. :6 that kid is just trying to screw you over. you told him about it and he still disregarded your warning. ::) if it's in writing then just forget about it.

I sold my civic to a kid, and I told him the engine was ticking but he ignored the warnings. He blew up the engine maybe 10 minutes after picking up the car. I picked him up, paid for his tow to my mechanics and bought him dinner. He was saying about lemon law and all this bs, I warned him and I did more than enough for him. Heck, before he bought the car I offered to find a spare engine for him and he refused. You can only do so much for a person before you gotta say enough is enough.

Alot can happen in 3 hours. Anything can happen. The guy could have tried F&F in it and lost it and crashed. Tell him to call his insurance company because you aren't an insurance company. ::) If he wants a boosted/swapped crx for $1500, he's ------- crazy. :3 I bet the 15 year old was going to wreck it in less than a week regardless. If I had that car when I was 15 it wouldn't have made it home either. :S

If anyone is stupid enough to drive anything that feels like a wheelbearing or major suspension component going south... when the car OBVIOUSLY NEEDS TO BE TOWED... then you should not pay for their stupidity.

You let $3500 worth of car go for $2500, tell the kid to sit on some fist.

Well no calls from the kid yet but yea he got a good deal...he was probably scared too last night because he didn't tell his rents that he was coming to pick up the car haha...From what the kid said last night the front wheel came off and the spindle snapped...oh yea the kids that picked up my car their all members from honda-tech ::) so yea

Have you even seen the car since the accident? You can easily change honda brakes in 3 hours. They prolly screwed up and now are passing the blame onto you. And where is this $1K coming from? To ramdom of a number and theres no way the damage was professionally assesed in that time either.

Nope I haven't seen it..they were supposedly driving back home and live like about 2-3 hrs away. Well I warned them about the brakes and I know damn well they were having fun with the boost and slamming on the brakes etc etc...hell they even said they were going to take it drag racing on that same night of the purchase which was last night. The $1k came out of his ass. This is what he said "we could of died, do you think you can refund me $1000."

They're just trying to make some money off it. ---- them. They bought a used car that needed a certain amount of work and were taking it drag racing which shows they were obviously going to be romping on it before they even looked anything over on the car. ::) Unless there was some type of written warranty(which I highly doubt)....---- em.

I made my neighbor sign a statement that said that he was fully aware the car he was purchasing was heavily modified and there was no implied warranty for repairs or even the legality of its use on the street. I also told him he could blow it up just going around the corner to his house and that I don't care nor do I want to hear about it. It took him 3 months of punishing it and turning the boost up to 15 psi to blow the motor.

Well I just got off the phone with the kid...and he apologized about him getting all pissed off last night. AND the real story was the lugnuts came loose and the wheel fell off and nothing broke...I'm not sure how they got loose but everything is all good now..

Probably put on slicks or drag radials and forgot to tighten the lugs down... :S

Let me tell ya when the lugs are loose, you get some really weird ass sounds... Ive been in someones car when the wheel fell off at 25ish mph while the guy was trying to limp it home to check it out, it was pretty fun really :8

i thought the car hit a pothole... i come out and look and go wtf O0

the lugs snapped off...

it was funny seeing the tire smashed up into the fender.. looked like the car was slammed O0

i sold my boosted 99 civic to some asshat last year and told him to be carefull on his ride home because it was a 4 hour drive, warned him about 5th gear pulls in boost and said don't use anything less then 91 octane. after takign his cashiers check and giving him the keys i told him that it is know his car and if it breaks it is his. he called about a month later sayign that he thinks the turbo is blown because it is making a knocking noise and smoking, lol. i asked him if he messed with the boost at all and he said that a "friend" of his worked on it to make it faster then he raced some guy and afterwards it started smoking "but it was fast as hell" :1. so he thought it was the turbo, i had to inform him that it was probly a rod making that sweet knocking sound and he should take the head off and check it out. guess his friend raised the boost from 10psi to around 18, lol.

Bought an eclipse when i was 15....first car. Guy striaght up robbed me and this is when i actually worked for my money. I was driving it home - he told me i'd be fine blah blah blahhh i've known your brother for years.... The head gasket blew on the way home.... I think i got everything but 100bucks back... not too bad.
