Sold my civic.. bought something new =) ... sort of big pics... 56k.. =(

I bought my civic back when I was a senior in high school and I did n/a mods to it til I put together a turbo kit, using mainly used greddy parts (due to lack of tools at home).

A lot of help I owe to people on the board, including jeff who I would ask (which I now know are stupid questions) but he still helped me and gave me mainy tips.

After all I thought about how much help I recieved I will be throwing some money in jeff's direction to help keep the site up. I don't post as much as I used to, but I still cannot get enough of checking out the new manifolds and all the setups. I don't think I ever will. Hopefully sending a few bucks to help keep the site will help someone else out in the future who may still be learning.

Here are some pics of the civic I just sold. :'(

Sorry for the large pics.. if they appear

Here is the stack of money I got from the sale =)

Bling Bling!

Here is my civic sitting right at my apt. right before I sold it!
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...l/DSC02078.jpg

And the moment I dreaded... watching someone else drive it away
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...l/DSC02080.jpg

My new purchase is the car sitting next to the civic.. I am still breaking it in but it is a lot of fun to drive.
I know it cost quite a bit of money, but I have saved up for a year to put a down payment and my payments are manageable for me.

I drove various cars, but I liked this one the best.

It always hurts to see a car go, even if you get a better one, i just sold my tahoe with a broken tranny to a guy who was going to fix it and flip it, it hurt, and then i just saw it up fore sale on craigslist today... ouch... oh well it was its time to move on down the road... :'(

Re: Sold my civic.. bought something new =) ... sort of big pics... 56k.. =(

no matter how much/little you sell the car for, there is no price you can put on the amount of time/fun you had with the car.

if it wasn't for that civic i would never have had any initiative to try a turbo setup and i wouldn't be where i am today

or because they are unusually ugly

i would toast that evo off the line, i can go WOT off the line and not break the tires loose until i build boost, and then all i gotta do is back off a tad and they grab and im gone.

thats one thing my car does good right now is leave

I think that this 2.0 may just be greater then your 5.0... http://media.ams-evo8.com/amsonthestreet.wmv

Nice buy man, I'm jealous!! If I had the money, I'd be rollin one as well. And I love the white ones too!

Ya I'm sure there are faster mustangs then that one. There's always a bigger fish in the sea! Either way I still love the car, congrats on the buy again!

When I sold my integra I got light headed and almost passed out and felt like crap the rest of the night. I saved up through all of high school to get something nice but I drove it two years and sold it for exactly what I paid for it so it didn't hurt to much.

I could never part with my CRX. I'd probably get all emo and depressed if I did and go listen to some Hawthorne Heights :'(

Any plans for the Evo other than pay it off? Maybe get it repo'd :8

Re: Sold my civic.. bought something new =) ... sort of big pics... 56k.. =(

dam this thread really took off.

in response to evo's launching and bogging.. a lot of people have problems with launching them. they think you can dump the clutch in an awd vehicle. definately not the case. a 'good' launch on a stock clutch will ruin it after about the 3rd time. the clutch feels nice in the car (compared to the civic) but there is not as much pressure, that is a common thing for them.

I like the looks of the evo, but i can't decide if i like the wing or not. i want to pull it off but i can't see doing that and having holes in the trunk.. oh wait, yes i can :)

as for my job, i am still in college. i am a mechanical engineering student. i didn't make a lot of money, but i saved for quite a while. i worked for 12.5/hr over the summer and made about 8k. that along with another 2k i had previously saved up was a very nice down payment on the car.

my new job will be at 15.5/hr for a semester long and then another one before i finish college. just a little money management on my part and i can have the car paid off. i still live at home and i only have to pay ins., cell phone bill, and apt. rent.

so, as long as i work i will be ok with the payments.

plans for the car: i have a turbo timer that my gf bought me.
i will start modding it when i continue to save up money. just like i did with the civic.

the civic was a great car, but this is a different experience. i liked going in straight lines, but when you hammer the gas through a corner and the car goes.. its hard to compare the two, and i don't want to.. they each had their place and i don't regret either one.

sad to see the coupe go.

but the evo looks like sa nice one. It's funny how you brought up the wing, me and bambi aka bambooseven had a discussion about this a while ago. I digs the evo wingless, bambi loves the wing, then we saw one wingless with a cf trunk, and he agreed that it looked good, but still liked the wing, so what am I saying? buy a cf trunk and go wingless :P

ya, i will have to feel it out... since i am not made of money and i have to work my ass off a lot.. it might be a while before i buy something that expensive. they put 3m tape on the wing so it is a little difficult to remove.

on a previous note about the mustangs
i would love to ride in a turbo mustangs :y

I have read that taking that wing off greatly fucks up the handleing. Might want to take that into consideration. I know the RS models that can come wingless have a defuser on them to cominsate for the wing. Its not just any ole' APC kinda wing...

i never got to drive one. i looked at rsx's, new civics, wrx's (drove the 04 and 05) - they didn't seem to pull when i got into it.. maybe it was me.. idk? I looked at tons of different cars, but i feel in love with this when i rode in my friends and he put it sideways in a parking lot messing around. when your parents pay for everything though you can pretty much do what you want.. ::)

too bad i have to take care of mine.. til i can afford to replace things

Can't put a price of blood, sweat and tears that goes into it, new ride must be sweet. Thinking of selling the civic too for something new, after a while you just want something that doesn't rattle and smells new.

I hate to sell my cars...
my first car was a 95 probe gt, and even tho it was a p.o.s. with 155k miles on it, i loved that car and it crushed me to see it go. then i got a 96 saab 900se turbo, at first i hated the car but then i grew some kind of liking to it but just last week i sold that one too and i missed it until...
I bought an srt-4, not so much homemade but it is something to work with
i will work on using my friends digi to take pics
(so now i can yes....i drive a neon :P)
