Buy the biggest kit available, you'll get almost everything you'll ever need. I got that one and I got the flex-shaft attatchment that comes in very handy, the roto-zip attatchment and a ---- ton of bits in a sweet case, it really is worth it, I think I paid close to $100 for mine, but I have never had to buy any other bits or attatchments.

It's worth it to buy one with a kit that had all the attachments and a case.
I've had the best luck with the dremel brand name ones and the craftsman kind. Don't waste your money on immitation ones or black & decker brand.
Don't bother with the ones with digital readouts or the cordless ones. Just get the basic one and use the ---- out of it for small precision jobs, like cleaning up a small weld or rheaming out a hole.
A die grinder is what you need for larger jobs, like porting cast iron.. it can be done with the dremel but a die grinder is so much easier. You can always pick up a cheap pancake compressor and die grinder for something quick & easy.

Dremels are alright for small jobs. The manifold will take awhile. Dremels just dont have much torque so they dont cut fast but expect 3 hours or so to get the job done right.

My best advice is to get a variable speed one with at least 5 settings with the highest up around 30,000 rpms. I have a craftsman rotary tool that was a gift. It's a single speed 27,000 rpm version. There are times I really wish I could slow it down. I also find that the right angle attachment comes in very handy, if you can find a kit that includes it, get it. I think it's around $15 if you buy it separate.

That die grinder will work assuming that it's a nice flowing pnumatic one. I forgot to metnion about the speed variance, the upper model ones will have what you need. The crappy ones are single speed.. ---- that
