Re:small radiator for CRX?

here's a good pic of John Ward's setup... I believe that's a 5g civic radiator.

http://www.rpiracing.com/flcrxmeet/2...CN0730_JPG.htm

It is a '94 Del Sol DOHC VTEC radiator to be exact.

dam its to bad john's manifold is rubing on his hood. that rad he has is a 5th gen civic he said it sits very low to the ground
It sits low, because of my custom brackets... it's the only way that it won't hit the hood in my car. Fortunately, it won't be there much longer... i'm going to be switching to a custom setup in the next couple of months ;) And yea, it does suck ass that the manifold is hitting that POS VIS hood... it's only going to get worse before it gets better. There is a taller deck height engine going in, which means the manifold is "movin' on up"... maybe time to cut the bottom of the hood completely out ;D

Is John useing a custom crossmember? I'm wondering why the rad sits too low...
Nope... stock crossmember. I'm just using custom radiator mounts :)

john you should try shimming the engine mounts with some washers. i have never tried this but have heard of it gotta be wourth a try.

Re:small radiator for CRX?

If i shimmed it, it would wind up needing some thick-ass washers to do it... the head is already sitting higher on the block because of the thicker headgasket (thats why the valve cover hits... the manifold would have hit either way), and the engine that will be going in is going to be MUCH taller than this engine, so shimming is pretty much out of the question for anything long-term... but yea, until i get the other engine in there, shimming it would probably be a good thing :)

Dont you remember, we had to shim my old ZC motor? it use to rub really bad. I should probably shim my motor right now, since it rubs incredibly bad..

Btw, thanks John for checking out the new board.

Actually, it probably wouldn't look too bad like that... hehe. :P

Not a problem Jeff ;) It's definately looking good. I was wondering when you'd be taking this step, since it seems only logical for a how-to type site to have some sort of forum. Anyhoo, maybe i'll be able to lend a hand every now and then over here as well as at that "other" board... haha ;D

Mind posting your pics to your setup in our FI section? I am sure some guys would appricate it.

Jeff
