"jb engineering xmember"
i like the sound of that. im also looking for a "FEZ" style radiator, we will see how that turns out... |
Re:small radiator for CRX?
i could just hack half my radiator off and fiberglass it back up..
|
Re:small radiator for CRX?
that could be one hell of a homemade job....
|
Re:small radiator for CRX?
that thought has crossed my mind, but i think im going to pass on cutting mine i half...
|
Re:small radiator for CRX?
lol
actually if you cut it where the fins are you wouldnt break anything.. |
Re:small radiator for CRX?
dam its to bad john's manifold is rubing on his hood. that rad he has is a 5th gen civic he said it sits very low to the ground :-\

Re:small radiator for CRX?
im working on something right now, need some cash though. we will see how it works out. i will keep you informed.
anyone know a half way desent radiator shop in north seattle/everett area? |
Re:small radiator for CRX?
I'm also planning on useing either the jimfab or z10 for my project. I was planning on useing the civic rad. Is John useing a custom crossmember? I'm wondering why the rad sits too low...I would reread the original post but as you all know it's down. Shouldn't a 5th gen rad sit right on top of the aftermarket crossmembers? Is the neon rad a bit shorter?
As far as the cost of the premade crossmembers keep in mind the whole insurance deal. I was speaking to a friend in insurance and if you have somthing that is "not reccomended" for street it could (if they could figure it out) cause issues. Is the extra $ worth it for the Z10 that has "for street and track" listed...hmm. I wonder how they came to those conclusions, and I wonder what thier liability is. And what sucks more is the extra price you have to pay for the Z10's if you are using a D series...damn man. |
Re:small radiator for CRX?
im having a custom crossmember made (there is another post about that), not sure how much clearance that will provide.
i scored the radiator though! its from a 75 Civic and it about half the size of the radiator in my CRX now (generic aftermarket Civic/CRX replacement). i will try to post some pics of it and some dimentions later... |
Re:small radiator for CRX?
well here it is 8) :

Re:small radiator for CRX?
"know the exhaust port size and what size tube to use on a exhaust manifold.
2" 3" what size should it be." dont know the port size. for the downpipe i would go as big as possible like a 2.5", 3"if you got a big turbo... |
Re:small radiator for CRX?

Re:small radiator for CRX?
john you should try shimming the engine mounts with some washers. i have never tried this but have heard of it gotta be wourth a try.
Beau |
Re:small radiator for CRX?
If i shimmed it, it would wind up needing some thick-ass washers to do it... the head is already sitting higher on the block because of the thicker headgasket (thats why the valve cover hits... the manifold would have hit either way), and the engine that will be going in is going to be MUCH taller than this engine, so shimming is pretty much out of the question for anything long-term... but yea, until i get the other engine in there, shimming it would probably be a good thing :)

Re:small radiator for CRX?
take the hood off and drive around like they do in the fast and ferious

Beau Btw, thanks John for checking out the new board. Jeff |

Actually, it probably wouldn't look too bad like that... hehe. :P Btw, thanks John for checking out the new board. Jeff Not a problem Jeff ;) It's definately looking good. I was wondering when you'd be taking this step, since it seems only logical for a how-to type site to have some sort of forum. Anyhoo, maybe i'll be able to lend a hand every now and then over here as well as at that "other" board... haha ;D |
Re:small radiator for CRX?
we dont talk about the "other" board here ;)
Mind posting your pics to your setup in our FI section? I am sure some guys would appricate it. Jeff |
