Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
Thought some of you D-series guys might like to check this out

Whats your guys thoughts? Jeff |
Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
yeah. well it looks kinda weird, experimental.
but i think pricewise and such it would be better welding up a tubular, or a log. how bout we get some dyno numbers with that thing. |
Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
it looks really heavy but i wonder how they are price wise?
|
Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
that flange looks very similar to a T4 turbo..

Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
The manifold is a first attempt at this manufacturing method. It went quite well but as you can imagine, I will be making some changes!. The manifold was designed in solids using master CAM software and a machining program was produced from the drawings to control the CNC machining center. The first one actually took quite a long time to machine but I think it can be done quite quickly if I were to set up and machine several at once. I am setting up a website and will be producing external waste gates, blowoff valves, intakes (these will blow you away,v trick!!) and anything else that comes to mind.

Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
Does it support A/C?
I know a lot of you think A/C is stupid, but I live in Louisiana. I also have a girlfriend and a dog that I want to stay alive while riding in my car. Jon Black |
Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
Hmmm, interesting. Definately original. :)
Like the split outlet for a T4. I'd give it a try. |
Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
:o
thats pretty cool... |
Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
hey dustin i love your new avatar
bahhahaah |
Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
yeah wtf is up with that??? my avatar got jacked...
|
Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
better blee dat.
|
Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
I have tried to make it work with the A/C still in place. The car in the picture is an air conditioned one and when I get a minute I'll see if the Compressor will go back in.

Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
Yep...me too I would like to keep my AC. Summer in NYC definitely get Hot, Humid and Hazy. What turbo is the manifold designed for? I have a DSM T25 that I want to use.
|
Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
LoL.. you guys are killin me..I live in az...we have triple digit figures here guys! ;) I have ac...but i hate driving with it on... it runs like ---- with it on. But im wipped and my g/f wants it on in summer.. o well.. thats the price you pay.
I like the manifold.. it has a .. diferent.. look to it.. but i would try it if it supported ac. |
Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
what is that made of?? some kinda steel right? when i see billet i think aluminum... hmm thats pretty interesting... you should know that if you make them for both b and d series you could sell a butt load of them and since most of the work is in the programming..........

Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
Hey speed what kind of CNC did you use i was trained on those fanuc style ones as well as the lathe and did you have you have to do any program writing on it or did the CAM program take care of all the dimensioning. Personally i like tubeing better and i like to do things manually on the mill get more of a feel for the metal. But i will give you credit on creativity

Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
we broke in to the triple digits up here maine a few times last summer to but we got all the humidity. what am i saying i don't have ac anyway.

Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
Hi folks,
The program was done using mastercam software. The flange is for a modified Chrysler turbo. The material is mild steel plate. I was hoping to start producing these for sale but I will need to make a few changes to the design before I am happy with the turbo placement and appearance of the manifold. I will probably mill some ribs into the top surface and mill the company name into the center. I have a website under construction at www.steedspeed.com and I will be showing the new manifold along with some other unique products to make your ride fly! (you've never seen anything like what is coming to my site!) Just as an aside. I will have a projects page and you will get to see my other winter project, a twin T3 sequentially turbocharged 77 Celica with a 20r motor and 10 injectors. |
Re:Shots of a Billet D-series Manifold
