A short timeline of events (some still in progress)
So, the battery in my laptop's been crap for a minute now. Also, three pixels in the screen are dead. I never ever ever see them except when using NisTune, dunno what's up with that, but I figured better safe than sorry especially since I still have a warranty on the thing.
I call up Lenovo around 3:30pm last Friday, push '1' twice, and wait about thirty seconds for a human being to pick up. Dude's name is Omar, and he's straight outta Atlanta and speaks my language unlike some companies that only employ "Matt," "Mark," or "Chris" from India, who don't know what a pixel is. It takes me about a minute thirty to tell this guy my name, the serial number of my laptop, and that my battery and screen are ----. He counters with "a box to ship your laptop in will be on your doorstep early Monday morning, it will take three business days to to complete the repairs and return it to you." So, box came in this morning, I dropped it off just a few minutes ago so it can go to a repair facility in Memphis, and I guess I'll have it back Thursday or Friday. Yeah, that sounds great and all, but you really need to read this thread to understand what I'm talking about: https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...595#msg1231595 Mister Omar, a redblooded American Citizen, didn't try to sell me ---- or tell me that my next to new laptop was outdated. He just handled my problem, period. ---- Yeah! |

Re: A short timeline of events (some still in progress)
Last time I complained to Harbor Freight, it was the local outlet and they told me to get fucked to my face. I almost got angry but realised I was out two dollars and went home to netsearch an American alternative.

Re: A short timeline of events (some still in progress)
I steal from the harbor freight during the outdoor sales.

Re: A short timeline of events (some still in progress)
Did you target the three items, out of their inventory of two thousand, that are worth a ---- or was it a pure spite snatch and grab?

Good to hear Joseph. Nice to see a company stand behind their products.

One of my T20s was run over by an SRT4, has a chunk out of the corner and still works fine.
The other has something stupid like 20 hours on it, still looks brand new, one day it just wouldn't turn on. You want it? Make offer. |
Re: A short timeline of events (some still in progress)
Pretty awesome there. I didn't think customer service for any product was still based here...
Magnesium exoskeleton is too pimp for me. I'll end up buying a cheap paper mache exoskeleton netbook for a few hundred. |
Re: A short timeline of events (some still in progress)
A box with a new battery arrived yesterday, the laptop with new screen arrived today. The sheet that was resting on top of the laptop says:
Enclosed is your repaired laptop. At Lenovo your satisfaction is very important to us. If for any reason you are not Extremely Satisfied with this repair and cannot score lenovo a "10" in the overall score of repair based on Ease of Return, Speed of Repair, Quality of Repair, or the Repair Status, please call our Customer Care team |

You have to call Jesus Christ himself. I have his cell # if you want it. |
Re: A short timeline of events (some still in progress)
I know what I'm buying this tax season.
My pos dell is on it's way out and I only bought it last tax season. ------- screen is broken right next to the ------- swivel point, so now it has lots of jb weld on it, lol. THis piece of crap pretty much sucks as far as taking abuse goes. besides that I have no complaints as it was only $200. Do you know if I'd be able to swap out hard drives between my d610 and a t43? I bought a 160gb hd not long ago and would like to keep it cus I has lots of porn and stuffs. O0 |
Re: A short timeline of events (some still in progress)
Yeah, you can swap HDs, but I recommend ditching the CD tray (I use mine once a year, maybe) and getting one of the Ultrabay HD caddies. Thinkpads are very cool, the CD drive region is called an "Ultrabay" and you can stick nifty stuff in there like second HD or a 3 cell battery. FYI, my T61 with a 9 cell main battery and the 3 cell battery stuffed in the Ultrabay is rated for a solid 8 hour work day with screen and processors turned all the way up. Not shabby.
I'm picking up an X41 for a beater unit to keep the miles off my tuning tool. |
Re: A short timeline of events (some still in progress)
I would kill for that kind of battery life... my laptop is ancient (5 years old) and can't hold a charge for longer than 30 minutes. I hate to blow my tax return, but I might look into a new machine.

Re: A short timeline of events (some still in progress)
Battery life will always be a problem with laptops. I don't expect my battery life to be perfect a year later - although I think Lenovo would replace it if you called - I just couldn't deal with a fully charged battery lasting under 10 minutes. Frankly, if it lasted 30 I'd be fine with it.

Re: A short timeline of events (some still in progress)
yeah... any thinkpad ive had always had a ---- battery in it, i never really cared though. mine is good for about over 2 hours with everything turned up. I dont have an ultrabay on the new SL500, so i will miss that.
