Default A short timeline of events (some still in progress)

So, the battery in my laptop's been crap for a minute now. Also, three pixels in the screen are dead. I never ever ever see them except when using NisTune, dunno what's up with that, but I figured better safe than sorry especially since I still have a warranty on the thing.

I call up Lenovo around 30pm last Friday, push '1' twice, and wait about thirty seconds for a human being to pick up. Dude's name is Omar, and he's straight outta Atlanta and speaks my language unlike some companies that only employ "Matt," "Mark," or "Chris" from India, who don't know what a pixel is. It takes me about a minute thirty to tell this guy my name, the serial number of my laptop, and that my battery and screen are ----. He counters with "a box to ship your laptop in will be on your doorstep early Monday morning, it will take three business days to to complete the repairs and return it to you."

So, box came in this morning, I dropped it off just a few minutes ago so it can go to a repair facility in Memphis, and I guess I'll have it back Thursday or Friday. Yeah, that sounds great and all, but you really need to read this thread to understand what I'm talking about: https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...595#msg1231595

Mister Omar, a redblooded American Citizen, didn't try to sell me ---- or tell me that my next to new laptop was outdated. He just handled my problem, period. ---- Yeah!

Last time I complained to Harbor Freight, it was the local outlet and they told me to get fucked to my face. I almost got angry but realised I was out two dollars and went home to netsearch an American alternative.

Thinkpad T61. T8300 processor (dual 2.4Ghz, 3Mb L2, almost a year later and I sdon't see those specs in new $1200 machines at Best Buy or other retailers), two gigs RAM, bluetooth, WSXGA+ screen (1680X1050 resolution), some other minor ----. $875 to the door with one year depot warranty, which I am using 10 months into ownership. The HD detects when the laptop has been dropped and shuts itself off and parks before the unit hits the ground. It has a magnesium exoskeleton to prevent damage when dropped, the rear of the screen was expressly designed to withstand a full grown man swinging a baseball bat at it - I've offered to smash other people's laptops in half with it I have so much confidence in it. If you pour a cup of coffee on the keyboard it drains out two holes in the bottom into your lap without hurting anything... except your lap. Log onto eCtune or pgmfi.org forums and ask bindegal about that, it happened to him a year ago on his flight to America for PRI.

Circuit City has the 1Gig RAM Lenovo S10 w/ the bigger HD for $349, after tax it'll come to about what I paid for my kid's 512Mb small HD unit to the door. You *should* get the 1 year Depot warranty that I did with both my Lenovo purchases, but you need to check on that.

Good to hear Joseph. Nice to see a company stand behind their products.

mines got the same thing, except for the magnesium exoskeleton. Its kind of wierd that you can open the taskbar tray icon and look at the real time status, and itll show you a picture of the laptop opened showing its orientation, real time, so if you tilt the machine sideways the little picture does the same, in just about any direction you put the machine in. I thought that was pretty cool. My old T20 too soo much abuse, the case was cracked in at least 8 or 10 different places, and it still works except for the screen was cracked on the last one... Im still looking for one but dont wanna pay like 80 bucks...
