short shifters? how about B&M?
Just wondering how many of you guys use short shifters, and if anyone here has a B&M shifter on their CRX/Civic. I am putting one on my car this weekend, I am wondering what to expect -- or any installation advice you might give me (AKA, how to avoid screwing up my shift linkage or tranny)

Re:short shifters? how about B&M?
I installed a B&M short shifter in my civic and my friends civic. They are really easy to put in and you won't screw anything up. Just follow the directions and you will be fine.

Re:short shifters? how about B&M?
I have broken 2 'short shifters' that were bought on Ebay. They are only about hlaf an inch shorter than stock. Buy a B&M or do what I did, get a junk stock shifter, hack a couple of inches off, sand the edges down, and slap on a shift knob. Work great ANDs cheap and long lasting.

Re:short shifters? how about B&M?
I got a cheap one off ebay and ordered some bushings from options auto(paid more for shipping than the bushings)
the only problem i had was that the end of my shift linkage (89 crx si, btw) was hitting on my stock exhaust when in 5th gear so i had to sawzal a little off ;D it didn't lower the shift knob height much but the throw is much better, probably due to the non-worn-out bushings |
