I've been turning a wrench and trying to go as fast a possible since I was 10, starting off with dirt bikes and 4-wheelers. Going fast in a car was just natural since I was doing it for so long. However, I don't let my hobby take over my life. My education, morgage and other priorities come first. Thats why I own a D-series.

Obviously you've never gone really fast, there's no better therapy than it.

i have a habit of building and destroying things. I've been like this since i was young. This car is like an experiment for me too. Its not even the thrill of going fast, i really just like learning and basically...tearin' ---- apart! :)

is taking a built ls/vtec at 20psi on a 160+(around there) pull on the freeway isnt enough?

an untuned 20psi is alot slower then a tuned 20 psi... lol

we do it because it bring us all together, makes us have something to do as friends and to go fast together, atleast thats why i do it.

lol, sounds like you're just kind of growing out of it :-\ My former step-dad was telling me about how he went to Jiffy Lube.. and I didn't see the big deal, until I realized that this was the first time he ever had someone else change his oil. He's just having too many things go on in his life.. sounds like it might be doing the same with you, having a child and all (congrats, btw). I'd say try and worry about the kid and the girl for now ;)

going fast is a bonus, a by-product. I have more fun working on my car, learning about high performance engine design, and installing ghetto turbo setups that boost 10 pounds in 3rd, and only 2 in 2nd? 8)

speed is a drug

they say speed is addicting but i think its the object of controling the speed thats addicting. i do what i do to my car because it is a stress reliever, when i first started modifing my cars it was really the only thing that could take my mind of the real world (my life) wich wasint all that great. when i was having a bad day or i was really upset i would get in my car and just drive and it would calm me down and would make me happy. know days i do it because its a hobby that im addicted too, i have found that i am never satisfied with the car thow i always wanna go faster and know that my car is by most people considered really fast i realize i will never be satisfied with the speed aspect because in the end there is always somone faster than you, but i can always could on my car to cheer me up when im felling shitty :D

I am not sure your question is "Why do we do it". I thinkit is more "Should I keep doing it?".

I do most of the things I do to ge the adrenaline rush. I have no quesiton as to why I build up my car, its so I can go fast on the street and the track, and anywhere else where I can carry speed.

But, I am in a situation now where I have to decide if I can/should do it anymore. I am getting a new job and will need a car to run perfectly every day, so a blown motor on a Tuesday night or a car that keeps stalling on me isnt an option. Plus, kids are in my very near future, and I dont think I want to carry my kids around in the tiny ass coupe that is loud, rides rough, and smells like exhaustt all the time. My decision is to get the car running right and sell it, put a down payment on a bigger ride with a respectable amount of power, and then be happy with it. I know it wont make me happy, but Its what I am going to do.
