Sentra Se-R's? heads up, AbaZ
hey I am thinking selling my Civic and getting a low-miles 91-94 Nissan Sentra SE-R. For those of you who don't know, these were pretty quick cars because they only weigh 2400 lbs and the engine is 2.0 L, 140-hp. There is also the option of a bluebird engine swap, the 205-HP JDM turbo engine (sr20det). So for those of you who know anything about these cars (like jeff the Nissan tech), I would appreciate some input. I kind of want specifics, too, not "my cousin Bob had an SE-R and it broke down" or "Nissan's suck, Honda is better." Thanx

i got a nissan sentra 2door its not an Se-R but i can vouch for it being crazy light.. mine is only a 4 speed and with all the highway driving that i do it really pisses me off. thats the only thing i dont like about the car besides the fact that it has a tad bit of rust on the bottom of the doors and rockers. i also own a honda. i say go for it man as long as u can find one that the body is mint (ie no rust).. who cares about the engine if u are gonna swap in the sr20 anyways!

I used to be a NISMO freak, then I changed to honda because the parts are everywhere and cheap. The Se-r+ turbo would own. b15-sentra.net used to have a lot of good information. I heard the blocks are very stinking strong stock. dinner time... later

I heard the block is very strong. It comes with steel crank and rods. I read an article that stated the stock block can handle about 300hp. A guy in Connecticut was selling one on "auto-trader.com" and he stated the fifth gear has a pop-out problem. GOOD LUCK

I've got a 93 SE-R and getting a SR20DET GTIR engine at the end of the week. 227hp 207lbs of torque. T28, individual throttle bodies. Can't wait! The SE-R and NX2000 all have LSD trannies but the cases have cracking issues and a notorious 5th gear popout.

my buddy just picked one up, 91 SER....it had pretty bad knocking issues, but he sprung for a replacement JDM SR20DE and took it to the track a few weeks later and was running 15.0s(I/H/stock leaky exhaust)...pretty sure he could have broken a 14 if he could have gotten some better traction! it was funny cause he was showing up the new 2k+ SER Specv boys, but all in good fun! those B15 SERs = sleeper, even in n/a form!
