Sell my car for a FD?

Re: Sell my car for a FD?
Yeah man, I don't know about in Japan, but here in the states a FD is considered a supercar(at least in my opinion),the rotary engine is considered by many to be one of the MOST efficient ever as far as power per displacement. They're fragile and finiky, but if you know ppl who can tune them correctly and share their knowlegde with you, I don't see what you have to worry about...AND YES, I thought tokyo drift was for ****, but the orange Veilside in that movie sounded better than any other car I've ever heard in my life...

I'd swap the Honda for an RX7 any day of the week. RWD gives you enough traction that you can really crank the power up and not have to worry so much about torque steer as with a FWD car. The 13b is a nice motor, as long as it has been taken care of. Anyone who thinks a (Wankel) rotary is unreliable or finicky either (a) hasn't owned or maintained one and needs to shut the ---- up, or (b) bought a used one that had not been well taken care of by a previous owner, or by the current owner. We had an RX-2 run for 200,000 miles like a top, a 13b powered VW Bus go for 75,000 after the swap, and a Rotary pickup go for 150,000 without anything more than simple maintenance you would do on any car.
A high horsepower RX7 is going to be like any other high performance car, build it right, tune it, and take care of it and it will last a long time. Since it has a single turbo on it already, shouldn't have to worry about the main pitfall of the twin turbo 13b, which is secondary turbo failure. Just keep oil in the thing and it should run like a top. Or, be different and do a Hinson SC setup with a twin turbo LSx motor. Just another idea...

As much as I like the civic Frank, I say do it, if the FD is clean.
My neighbor had a few rx7's and I was amazed at how quickly he could swap engines in that thing... and I have also heard that they are super easy to take apart (with only a few moving parts I can see how!) Although everyone seems to have little quirks with them, I still like 'em. Bring it back to the states in a couple years, sell the engine/trans/etc to a wannabe and go with a LSX You know you want to....
