CA18DET and RB20DETs aren't even in the same league as the SR... SR=performance RB20=family car CA=economy

sure, all three have their strong points... but the SR is the best hands down.

the VG30 on the other hand is very cheap, has a 1.74 rod ratio, a great all-around motor, very common and pretty compact... sure, it's not that easy of a swap and it's a bitch to work on them... but that's the engine i would do... either that or a mazda rotary.

Sr's cant compare to rb's and ca's they are in their own league .CA's are not meant for economy they were 1st gen silvia k's engines they have iron blocks and have been taken to 600+ hp and are rev happy wh0res. RB20's were not made mostly for family cars although they were enviromentally friendly i would take 2 more cylinders any day. The RB20 might be a bit weak so maybe a 25 considering they have been taken to extremly high hp numbers and with minor ecu adjustments can easily top to 300 hp.

speaking of the TT 300Z a friend of mine just picked one up for $3000. Itis in rough condition considering it was vandalized but the engine is in great condition and the turbos spool up great. The interior is thrashed no seats , t-tops blah blah but hell its $3000 for a TT 300Z i will try to post some pics when we can

thats really not a bad price, it might need some work, but if it runs good, thats sweet. how many miles? i have seen 91 TT's go for like 8 or 9 grand with tons of miles on them, in only fair condition too. those suckers hold their value. even the NA ones are hot as hell in the summer time

I work on Nissans everyday at work, and they have very well built motors, the VG/SR/VQ/CA/KA are all great engines. The QR I am still a bit worried about since we have had a few problems with the bottom ends on them, even though they look pretty beefie.

Yes shortyz, the 300zx tt, is a bitch to work on, it really depends on what you are doing. Alot of the times you can get ---- out without removing stuff, I can get almost every injector out without removing the intake manifold :P Timing belts and trannys are also pretty easy. As far as Turbo removal, it looks like a complete bitch, and flat rate shows something like 9.0 per side or something, So I am sure its a complete bitch, never tried.

Hey jeff i know you have come across a fwd SR20DE a couple times with 5th gear popout. What are the parts that you are supposed to replace in order to fix that problem?
