the dollar is low, but that doesn't mean our economy sucks.
all the factors have to be added together to determine the strength of the economy.

our economy still doesn't suck and its not that bad. one section that was horribly regulation and driven into the ground by government doesn't represent our "economy"

Oh, and people who build and re-build houses in hurricane zones and flood plains deserve to have their houses destroyed. However, our government feels obligated to subsidize their insurance to make it affordable. People who live in a hurricane prone area should NOT pay the same premiums as a guy in Montana.

America's economy is based largely on agriculture, construction, and service. The agricultural sector died 60 or more years ago, that's done. We all know that construction has come to a halt. When construction workers (trust me, there are a lot more out there than you think) stop having work and people stop being able to afford their homes they're less likely to indulge in the service sector. Service is a pretty broad sector. It can be anything from cleaning companies, eye brow waxers, tanning salons, hvac service, etc. we all know what services are. People are just doing without more and more these days. So we aren't necessarily being economically crushed right now, but we aren't doing too hot either.
Here's a pic I just snagged. It shows the yellow journalism of "We just had the biggest loss in Wall Street history."
Basically percentage wise it isn't top 10. It's only the biggest loss because the Dow is so inflated.
