i'm running a summit turbo muffler on my D. The volume is reasonable, though somewhat louder than stock, but that is to be expected. Gives me headaches when cruising on the highway for extended periods of time but i'm not complaining. Being used to an open DP for months, this baby purrs.

I'm running a summit "turbo" 2.5" on my turbo miata. It's quiet as all get out. Probably a bit TOO much backpressure but I've got a cut-out for when I need it.

Just throw your turbo on. It should quiet down the exhaust a good amount.

I've recommended a Dynomax welded Ultraflo to anyone who asked for the last 7 years. They are affordable, good build quality, flow as good as anything else but make less noise, and generally don't suck.

In the last 7 years exactly zero people have purchased one because it isn't a chrome ricecannon with a 5" tip.

The T-100 has one and it sounds good.

enikolayev- my manalflow is the same way. Gives me headaches on anything more than a 15 minute drive. When I had the stock exhaust I could raw hide the hell out of the car and nobody noticed cause it was pretty quiet, and slow.

Slos13- You got any vids or sound clips?

I know the turbo will quiet it down some, though I don't know how much. Thing is I'm building a sleeper, so I want it quiet. Stock 2.5" exhaust tip will be going on whenever I change out mufflers. As it sits now it's got a 3" pipe out the back. Doesn't look stock at all.

Joseph Davis- Wouldn't the dynomax turbo muffler be quieter? I'm sure a baffled muffler flows better but quiet is more important to me. Sound police here are a bitch. They write you a ticket if they think your ---- might be loud.

My exhaust is full 3" with a gutted 3" cat for looks. Turbo makes it really quiet. I mean it's still loud because it's a ricer Honda, but it's quieter than it would be NA with the exhaust. My turbo probably muffles more than my muffler.

Baffles are a flow restriction, you want a straight pass through.

A turbo - the-o-rectally - operates as a third of a muffler. In reality, sometimes it acts as a muffler and other times it doesn't do anything. Your turbo manifold dictates most of this, and the length vs diameter of your exhaust dictates the rest. If you put it together and it's too loud I would recommend sticking a glasspack in the B-pipe as a resonator and if it's still loud try to add or remove a couple inches from the end of the exhaust. Also, big tips amplify noise, avoid that ----. Some people swear by downturns but if they aren't properly placed you just reflect noise off the ground and into your undercarriage so that your personal ride is loud.

Be careful, I've been in some cars that were fairly quiet inside, but you could hear from behind from a mile away. This is a great exhaust, IMO, but it is NOT stealth. Thermal R&D 3" for DC chassis Integra is great for this, the car is pretty quiet but everyone behind you experiences the sound and fury.

Yeah, I've read "The Scientific Design of Exhaust and Intake Systems" a while back so I know a bit about exhaust stuff. But of course it's only part theory, and part real world experience. When I built my exhaust I kept it 3" everywhere w/ no tip and minimized bends.

The magnaflow is a straight through perforated tube w/ ---- around it to absorb sound. It works, but doesn't work enough. Also, I got a glass pack as a resonator already. Actually have 3 in a row after the down pipe, but didn't say that earlier to avoid ridicule... They help cut out the high frequencies and raspyness. I'll probably try the largest body'd 3" summit turbo muffler first as it's only like 30 bucks. Hopefully that will get the sound down more than this magnaflow. The magnaflow is fine at idle and low speed cruise, but when you open the throttle or cruise at highway speeds it's like there is no muffler.

EDIT: I'm running a 4:1 header right now but I'll be running a cast iron manifold when I turbo it. FWIW..
