Just take it to a shop. I think they only charge like $25 to do a discharge. Then just refill yourself.

It doesn't work that well on a completely discharged system without a vac pulled first. When it's 125* outside it matters, but if you don't need your AC to work 100% than it's probably ok to do that. :l

you dont have to do a damn thing but empty the old freon and put in new. dont worry about the oil. putting a vacumme on the system will make it work better but the oil doesnt matter. that is straight form the manufacturer.


now all that said those recharge cans suck. i have installed custom ac systems into planes that were never meant to have them and i cant get those things to make the ac work like it should, but when i use the machine at work its like new

damn im tired and hopefully spelled everything close to right

What's the difference between the 134a in the can and the 134a at your work? ???

honestly i dont know. its the same ----, but i am guessing when i use the cans i dont have any way to put a vacumme on the system

Hmmm....I wonder how much it would be to get my system drained, vac'd and charged? :l I have a digital thermo on my vent and it doesn't get much colder than ~46* at best. If I come to a stop it will go well above 50*. :(

Back when I had my 91 Civic hatch we had the ac discharged and just refilled with new R13. Worked fine till the day I traded it. It would get so cold that on high I could blow hot air from my mouth and it would "fog".

your supposed to replace the accuumulator dryer like stated earler flush/vac all the lines and refill with the correct weight pag oil for 134. o ya dont forget to replace all the o rings as well. thats if you want to do it right you might be able to get away with just throwing some refigerant into that beast and it may blow cold for a while.

yup it connects to the gauge set. The gauge set and vac pump was like 60 ------ bucks. I was only able to pull -20 with my ---- harbor freight compressor and ---- harbor freight vacuum pump tho. Held it for a good 2hrs or so.

Damn, the guage set alone that I was looking at was $99.95 and it didn't come with a vac pump or anything else or I probably would have bought it. :l
