Raised the boost. Holy hell

I usually run between 9-11psi on the street and its now running 14-15psi. good lord almighty. The car is freaking insane now. I cant get traction in 2nd gear at all and its sketchy in 3rd. Weeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

A friend of mine rolled up next to me at a light. Hes got an AWD DSM with a t3/t4 and he revved at me, so we both took off. I hit 2nd gear and the car was wagging the rear end all over the place. Not a good idea.

OK, so you're at 1 bar... try a little more, those DETs like boost...

Re:Raised the boost. Holy hell

i believe he has a ka24de (home made 't'), is the only difference is the de and det's a turbo? they have the same internals and bottom end? anyways, yeah, there's a big diff between 10 and 15, i found that out the fun way too ;D

Re:Raised the boost. Holy hell

i dont think the ka24de ever was a turbo motor. maybe u guys are thinkin about the sr20de, det, and dett :)

exactly, but he has a ka24de'HM't ;D i was just saying in general with the sr and rb's ;)

Re:Raised the boost. Holy hell

It's funny how everyone is getting an sr20det for the turbo when they have a perfectly good strong block already that's asking for boost. Anyways have you ever dyno'd your KA setup?

Re:Raised the boost. Holy hell

OH, now I see... I thought the little quote under his name was implying ka24 -> s20 as in he had swapped.

I'd be a bit more careful with the ka24, not as happy about boost usually.

As for the SR20s, they only came in DE (US) and DET (JDM), never in DETT, as mentioned, the was the RB motors, like the sexxy rb26dett from the R34 ;D. The DET is not simply a DE with a turbo, DETs also have piston oil squirters to help cooling, stronger internals, lower compression, etc.

Sounds like he needs some sticky rumber under there to have more fun...

Re:Raised the boost. Holy hell

Internals of a DE is as strong as the ones in a DET...only that the DE has higher comp pistons.
The DET has oil squirters, but that's only necessary for track use.
If you got a SR20DE ..boost it..give it some 20 psi luv or 400whp luv.
It has been done many times before...it's comp isn't that high either think it was 9.2:1 or something like that.

I thought the rods were different... but i could be wrong. we boosted my roomates G20 using a JDM DE engine (10:1 comp) with a Bluebird turbo setup, Jim wolf ECU/S3 cams, JGY customs fmic kit, big ole DP and 2.5 exhaust and holy ----, that thing tears... Crazy fast.

sr20's also came in high output, high compression vvt versions like the sr20VE... RARE. comparable to a b18c with more torque

Re:Raised the boost. Holy hell

Those DET's can have the boost cranked way the ---- up there and don't have to worry cause those things are built like tanks. If you get some rods from the GTIR there factory forged and the pistons give you a 8.3:1 CR and can take a massive beating. My friend has a stock DE in his NX2000 and boosts that ---- to kingdom come with no worries and road races, drags, you name it that thing takes a beating.

You still have the stock clutch in your ka24de with over 212k?

I have a 2000 altima SE with the stout ka24de....hmmmmmmm decisions decisions....It's my daily driver but slow as doodie compared to my crx.

Re:Raised the boost. Holy hell

NOpe, not running the stock clutch. its a SPEC stage III. Its great fun to get stuck in a traffic jam!

I've got a leaky front-main seal, and like everybody knows, its got 212k miles. Right now im having to pay 'rent' to keep my spare motor at a shop and i'd rather just blow this motor up and put my low miles one in there (and swap over the turbo junk of course). Im gonna try to find somebody who has AAA and a video camera. Keep raising the boost until it blows up and get it on video :)

Donuts at 15psi probably look the same as donuts at 10psi...BUT thats not a bad way to blow up the motor!

Havent dynoed it, but if I had to guess, id say ~300whp, 375tq. Im just pulling those numbers out of my ass.

Beat the piss out of a non-SC Cobra yesterday. No contest.

"They" is not Nissan that's custom... it's like say "they" made a twin turbo civic... "they" is not honda, "they" is Whitey.

That's not an SR20DETT, it's an SR20DET with two turbos... there's a difference. that'd be like saying a turbo crx had a d16a6t

Not saying that ---- ain't hot as hell, but I'm just stating that I'm not an idiot for stating there is no such thing as an SR20DETT and probably never will be.
