Racing Tips and Topics...
 

I'm going to run my car at the track shortly and I was curious of everyone's advice as to make my times a little lower and what not. I have a 98EX Coupe powerd on 10.5psi by a .42/.48. This is going to be done on some streets. Hankook HRII's. Currently, I'm just learning on launching and shifting without spinning and I can slip the gears so I don't spin at all, but should I spin a little or what? I remember Skinnye's thread, but it really didn't get too indepth as far as slipping the clutch and shifting and all. Just curious on everyone's take.

Tell your own techniques and what not. Just listening and reading everyone's perspectives on their own racing is cool, too.

That is from my other thread and it's not a good run at all I have had MUCH better and MUCH worse. Like I said I'm learning so any suggestions I would be more than happy to listen. Thanks guys! ;) ;D

who did your turbo kit???? its hard to learn reading, learn from ur mistakes n try what makes it feel faster. dump clutch at 3rd yellow not at green... do a burn out anyway even tho ur on streets... use launch control.

My Dad, me, and HMT did the the kit. Ummmm, I dont have FTL.

dont bother practicing, the track is much different than the street, and ---- the lights, drop the clutch when youre ready to go, whats more important too you, a good reaction time or a good 1/4 mile time, you choose

i always had the best luck doing a light spin burnout out of the waterbox (dont get them wet, just give them a quick spin) and then work on feathered launches harder and harder until you find the sweet spot. dropping the clutch on streets never worked out well.

dont go in the water unless you have radials or slicks. i always go around. dump on the third yellow. and who wants to sleep at the light if your bracket racing

So skip the box and go around it or just right through it. Go on the 3rd yellow. I don't dump the clutch on launches. I usually rev to 3500 and slip it out as I give it 3/4 throttle then roll into as full throttle and slip 2nd and 3rd while giving gas so I don't spin shifting at all. Does anyone suggest spinning any when shifting or just heavy slipping? I want a good 1/4 not reaction time, but the thing that's gay is the staging at our track is set to run people through quick. So you stage and as SOON AS BOTH ARE STAGED the top yellow then green. No time to really set a good steady rpm. That's gonna kill me. Thanks for all the replies though fellas! ;) ;D
