Post your resume(cool points if you do)

I'm going to a local VW dealership and put down an app, so I was wondering what everyone else's resumes looked like. I'm 19 and the only work experience that i have is working at Subway as a cashier and the Sears that Ii'm working at part time as a immigrant slave. So busts out with any tips, and some resumes would be nice :X

You don't need a resume. Just make like Obie Trice and show them your hairy nuts. If they like what they see, you get the job. They don't, you get jailed.

i did the same thing you are about to. i started at a local VW dealer when i was 19, before i turned 21 i was making $36k/yr.
just bust your ass when you are doing the grunt work and you will be rewarded. try to get into the parts dept, once you are in at a dealer you can get a job at any other dealer for the rest of your life.

I 'd like to think that i'm pretty much in but i would like to show that extra step by making a resume. I know 2 of the Certified mechanics in the backshop and some young buck got fired for some reason or another. I am only lost in what an automotive resume should look like. Should i list the equipment i can use?

Not looking too much as to the future of the job, I'm taking it as I need to get a better job than fag sears and their shitty pay/destruction of all motivation.

I'm not sure I'd bust out the resume. If you know two of the mechanics, have them put the word in and more than likely if the "boss" is interested he'll say "have him call me". If they put the word in and you don't hear anything, than put a resume in and call afterwards.

Your work history doesn't support anything that will happen at the dealership, so I would bust ass to get an interview and during it let your general abilities shine. (Knowledge of cars, safety, good communication, ect..)

A resume with Subway on it at a car dealership probably wouldn't help the cause.

yea but showing he can work reliably will always help. im working on a new resume as we speak for a job once i graduate. just list the things you know how to do with cars, where you went to high school, jobs, and list some references...if you actually want to see my resume let me know ill post it up so you can see the format i used

what position are you trying to get??? if you dont have any dealer experience or some sort of real school, you dont stand a chance of becoming a tech without going through a LOT of bullshit.

i thought the same thing about werking at the dealer, just getting a job and thats it. but after i werked part time for a while i saw the money that was there, i asked my manager what i could do to make more money and he put me in the parts dept.

i started out making $8.50/hr working 4hrs per day in Oct 02, by June 03 i was working full time making $36k/yr. i had ZERO auto experience (other than my own cars) i just went to werk and made sure everythign i did was better than the guy next to me.

Yes, the application will ask about previous employement and how long he worked there. That will show the reliability. Your resume should show some type of history in the field you're applying for. Subway and Sears don't call for a resume IMO.

Umm if you are applying for a real job you should have a resume, not just say I know those two guys over there
