Smile My 84 Buick

Ok - I'm in the minority here with an American car but here goes...

This is a 1984 Buick Century Olympia, built to comemmorate the 1984 Olympics in California. I bought it from a junkyard (with only 44,000 miles) and am in the process of restoring it. The mechanicals are done, just down to the bodywork. Currently my daily driver.

This is how it was when I got it:

This is how it is now (waiting on paint):

Engine: Buick 3.8 SFI (LG3). Was originaly naturally aspirated (no turbo). 90° V6 even fire, 3785 cc, 8.75:1 C/R, roller-lifters, iron block and heads.

Engine modifications:
forged Sealed Power pistons.
Comp 258HR camshaft.
Turbonetics water cooled GTK450 turbocharger .
Spearco air to air intercooler.
Heads and manifolds ported.
Otherwise engine is stock.

Engine management:
-GM / Delco ECM salvaged from a 1992 Chevy pickup. Speed-density fuel control with 3 bar MAP. Has boost control and knock-sensing timing control.
-Code59 program with real-time tuning and datalogging.
-Seimens Mototron 60 Lb/Hr injectors.
-Accufab fuel regulator, set to stock pressure 0f 43 PSI.

Transmission:
Hydramatic 4T65E-HD from a 1997 Buick Riviera. 4 speed auto with locking converter. Full electronic shift control. Trans is controlled by a trans ECU salvaged from a 1993 Chevy Diesel pickup.
-Wide chain modification.
-Limited-slip final drive.
-Hardened input and output shafts.
-Large trans oil cooler.

This car was put on dyno, and after 5 pulls that did not count (but got the engine very hot) and a faulty ignition module (NEW made in China) it put down a 326 HP / 380 TQ pull. (uncorrected drive-wheel power reading) Have not had it on the track yet but plan to when time allows.

I've got about 15000 miles on it since the engine build and turbo install. Been to Louisiana, Texas, and Iowa (from Alabama) with no significant problems!

Thanks for reading my long-winded post - and I've enjoyed seeing everyone elses HMT builds. It's fascinating seeing things people have built and designed.

Later,
David

I Currently own 3 cars actually, 2 of wich will be turbocharged.

First is a 1988 BMW e34 535i, pretty much full option.
Overhauled the engine about a year ago.
It's lowered with Koni shocks. Handles like a dream.
Currently automatic tranny, but it is blown, so i have a manual lying around, and bought a M5 diff with 25% LSD yesterday.
Building another engine for it, with pistons from e23 745, wich are low compression pistons.
Together with the Garret GT35R replica turbo i have lying around, this will make for much fun I think!

on the nurburgring:

I also use it for heavy hauling

Secondly, I have a 1986 Audi Quattro Coupe.
This is currently stock, but i'm looking for a RS2 engine for it (320hp)
Current engine pretty much garbage, getting only 2 bars of oil pressure @ 4k rpm.

Pic's:

Then i also have a Suzuku Samurai with Opel (GM) 2.0 8v engine.
Nothing spectaculair, just spoa with 30x9.5 mud tires.

previous cars are Opel Manta (1973) and Opel Ascona (1979)

Pic's:

(Manta also on nurburgring )

Ascona:

So, now you know everything about my pathetic heap of junk.
