It's all well and good, but he shouldn't have polished up his intake side. It's one thing to knock down the casting material and smooth out the flow, but you shouldn't by any means polish it afterwards.

well i think you were looking at the exhaust port....this is the intake.
but i do agree with on you should never do a mirror polish on the intake especially on naturally aspirated set ups
