Had an 88 once. Apex seals took a dump.
Rotaries love detonation. :) If I had $$$$ and wanted a challenge, I'd boost one. Read the new Sport Compact yet? Good stuff on the next gen rotary. |

my freind works at a rotary shop. you can boost the ---- out of those 13b 's. "----"=15lbs.

Re:Planning on buying a 1990 RX-7
Proper fuel management is the #1 thing with the T-2's. I've seen guys blow motors running a complete stock motor with just a downpipe upgrade. You all know who you are with the HKS deathpipe I mean downpipe.....If you can find a 1990 I think that is the year that they went back to a steel apex seal in stead of the composite one. Good Luck with yours they are a blast...

Re:Planning on buying a 1990 RX-7
I may not know honda's but one thing i do know is Rx7's. You can run higher than 15psi, but who needs to. At 15psi with a 60-1 you will be putting down about 400rwhp, but that can vary based on your fuel setup and turbo size. Rotarys aren't like pistions, you dont have to pump a huge amount of boost into them to make them have power. As for the rebuild comments, yes, they are very prone to blow up, but as long as you take the proper steps to make sure they dont, they want.
Chris Ps: here is a link to my car so you can see just how cool 7's are :) http://www.devilmotorsports.com/rtr/...hris/chris.htm |
Re:Planning on buying a 1990 RX-7
i've always been a fan of 7's but i hate it when they get riced and kitted out :-X. I just find those rotaries to be crazy as hell and i like crazy looking stuff not to mention a mechanical marvel. I would have to say go for it , working on a car is the point of haveing one. Its fun to mod them and see your reward.
